Terminator fans, this is for you! There's a new TV series debuting tomorrow night on Fox called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. No Linda Hamilton, so I don't know how good this is going to be.

I think honestly its gonna be meh. Its gonna completely alter the entire story. I think it may have some cool bits but thats it.

Two words: Summer Glau.

I want to see it at least once just to see her as a terminator.

That is the part that worries me. The ones that saw T3, knows want happens and
John Connor was shock to see the Terminator come back and it was like this was the first time since T2 that another Terminator was about to kill him.
Summer Glau is in it? I'd check it out just for that. Though I'm not really all that familiar with the Terminator story, so I might not get what's going on. (Also, I kinda don't have TV anyway. >_>)

They're ignoring T3 for this series. It follows T2 but it has its own universe so to speak.

Just view the movies as one universe, the series as another. I'm not really to worried about the alternate storyline. As long as their is consistency within the shows timeline and they don't mess with major stuff (like John turns out to be a terminator or something stupid), then I'm fine with it. Highlander did it and that turned out good... HL ignored the ending of the first movie and its sequels and that went on for 6 years so this could be good too.

I'm hoping it will be anyway. I'm a big fan of the terminator movies (really the first two but the third was ok)... I haven't really found anything on TV in the last few years I've actually clicked with and felt the need to watch a whole season but I'm fairly excited about this one. But we'll see, it could suck horribly.

Or... knowing Fox, even if its the best thing on TV, they could pull this after like they air the first 12 episodes before its able to pull in a good following. Dark Angel and Firefly come to mind...

I thought the commercials made it look too blah so I didn't bother to check it out yesterday. In any case it is rather hard to picture the Terminator without AHNULD!
Face it folks AHNULD was the sole reason the Terminator movies existed in the first place. It was all about AHNULD!

I watched it last night (but not tonight, busy cooking!).

I thought it maintained the continuity from T2 very well (Miles Dyson's widow made a brief cameo!), and played well "within the rules" established by the two movies.

A reviewer did hit the nail on the head: it didn't have much of the black humor of the T2 movie. But overall, I thought it was not bad.

First Prime Time network TV I've watched in years.

Heh. T3 sucked. And I think we should all ignore that it existed. Maybe the new show won't be bad after all. This is the first news that kinda interests me in the series.

So far, so good. From what my sister researched, this series is taken from the original drafts of T3.

Well, its true that T3 wasn't good and nothing like the first two movies.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles is executive produced by Terminator 3 producers, maybe they are trying undue the past of a failed movie.

Now that you said that. I can't remember what it was in T3 that mess the storyline for the other two. But you are right and maybe I give this chance, since it looks like it will be better then T3, maybe.

The show's been decent so far. The same kind of stuff we've come to expect from the franchise.

I'm a little nervous as to how this will play out in a TV series, though. Will they really advance a plot or is it going to be mostly episodes of them running, hiding, running, hiding, finding others who have also been sent back to the past (apparently not a very difficult thing to do in the future)? Then the terminator kills someone needlessly and Sarah and/or John get mad, but she doesn't care.

That works well enough for an hour or so during a movie but it may get a tad old if done for 10 episodes of a 13 episode season.

I don't think it will last for 13 episodes. The important part of the Terminator movies was the character played by AHNULD who in the first movie went back to KILL Connors and in the second movie returned to
HELP Connors.
I think having a young teenaged looking female Terminator take AHNULD's place doesn't make sense, unless they plan on having some sort of teenage sexual tension later on in the series.

They only show nine eps are made so far.

I did a little reading and makes me have more faith in this seires.

Friedman stated that the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines occur in an alternate timeline from that of the TV series. Meaning, forgot that T3 was ever made and Friedman also said that they are going to avoid the "Terminator of the Week" plot device in the series.

Friedman was quoted that he has a rough idea for the plot of the following three seasons.

Well the ratings say other wise. The pilot episode received a rating of 11.1 1 from Nielsen Media Research, 18.6 million viewers and was rank #1 for time slot and rank #2 for the night.

Episode 2, which aired last night received a rating of 6.2 1 from Nielsen Media Research, 10 million viewers and was rank #2 for time slot and rank #4 for the night.

Also, a lot of news papers have give the series a good review.

So, I guess there is no point in making Terminator 4 movie then, since Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be in the movie. From what I have read Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will contain a link to Terminator 4 movie. So, they are trying write off T3 and that's a good thing.

If you haven't seen T3, then you should and see that movie was not that great at all and any Terminator fan will tell you that it shouldn't have been made or made better.

WEll from what I read, T4 is gonna pick up after T3 and ignore the show keeping the timelines separate =P

As far as the show goes, so far I think its pretty decent but I'm interested to see how they turn this into an actual series than a looong stretched out mini series. I hope its not just run and hide run and hide....

Anyone else disappointed in the lack of an opening titles sequence? Maybe they don't do it much anymore, I never really payed attention but I love it when they set a show up with a nice opening titles sequence... disappointed they dont use the Terminator theme either... just the drums from it.

That still leaves the writer's strike to contend with. Only half a season has been completed.
