i saw a trailer for this movie sometime ago. the director did Independence Day and Day After Tomorrow so it'll probably have some pretty good special effects. as for the movie itself, i'm kinda skeptical about it. let's just say it's nothing new...

I love how they're cavemen and they speak English like anyone today would. XDD

Hurry for Pro-Evolution propaganda!
At least they didn't go as far as to call it 10,000 BCE.

Ooh, this looks epic. I hope there's a good line in it though... like "This. Is. History!"

Who knew that cave men were so epic?

This is from the director of The Day After Tomorrow?

Well thank you and goodbye then! XD

Note to Hollywood: "Please make original ideas. The sooner the better".

....ok....who here thinks that hollywood believes that it can make dull movies succeed as long as they can stuff as much computer graphics into it as possible?

People who enjoy well-thought out plot lines, dialogue that ISN'T cheesy, and a story that's intriguing for more than just the way it looks.

Maybe.

This movie looks like the greatest movie ever made. Did I mention this movie looks like the greatest movie ever made? Because it looks like the greatest movie ever made.

EXCEPT. BAD DIRECTORS. BAD. Were those dinosaurs? DINOSAURS? IN 10,000 BC? No dinner for you until you remember your extinction events!

I saw the trailer for this several months ago and absolutely cringed at how bad it was. I suppose like 300, it could be kind of funny in some sort of campy way.

Let's see if can beat 1,000,000 B.C.

Heh reminds me of the old black and white claymation (or whatever they were made out of) of dinosaurs attacking cavemen.

It looks good, but interesting how civilization has already been established (or maybe it wasn't too far off as far as its time line is concerned).

Yeah, I know they've made countless movies based one some historical/fictional epic, and the one hero of it all. Still, I love that sub genre^^

Might take a look at it, for epic value. Although yes, Day After Tomorrow was... bad...

I think the worst thing though, is the fact that the Mammoths are in the Egpytion (so it appears) desert, instead of the tundra :/

Kind of. The earliest permanent settlements date to places like Jericho (9,000 B.C) and Çatalhöyük (8000-7000 B.C.). Real civilization however, didn't get going until just a little before 3,000 B.C.

I think the worst thing though, is the fact that the Mammoths are in the Egpytion (so it appears) desert, instead of the tundra :/

Also note that sabre-tooth cats were exclusive to the Americas!

Exclusive? Wasn't sure where those kitties were from, so that's an interesting note too. Either way, the idea of these woolly arctic animals being anywhere near the hot spots just doesn't make sense^^ Well yeah, piles of ice DID melt more, but the animals kinda ya know, followed it? Or at least shed their fur like animals of today.

I'm done with the animal technicalities^^ It's a movie, and they probably added alot of those elements for 'coolness' anyways.

Eh, quite a few movies involve thuggish guys running around killing things to high-tension music in order to save a generic love interest. Wake me when they have one about primordial ooze.

He is, and I'll have to ask that we not go there in this thread.

I suspect he meant that they can make those kinds of movies and they will succeed, quality aside. Because the aforementioned kind of person is rarer than you might hope.

The one movie that kept popping into my mind when watching the trailer (since I have not seen 300) was The Scorpian King.

How would you know if I was serious?

Regardless, that will be the last comment about the topic.

EDIT: I did mean the second half.

Wow, another hack and slash, nuke'em 'til they glow movie in the vein of the over-hyped, testosterone soaked cliched flicks in a manner so obvious it has already been pointed out in the posts above.
Minus the nukes, or is that Hollywoods attempt at originality?
I think I'll skip this one. Maybe if someone made Titus Andronicus in this visual style, while staying true to the original material I'd watch, but this? Next.

Ripping off Quest For Fire now are we and Clan of the Cave Bear?

Cavemen pictures only work if they have Ringo Starr and Catherine
Bach in a furry bikini!

To make your comment actually the last on this subject, I'll PM a response. Carry on, all.

Vaguely on-topic thought: someone should post this trailer with the 300 music. It'd be mildly amusing.
