What is your favorite comic book series and Arcs?

Well these are my top 3.

1. Spiderman - Symbiote
2. Marvle Zombies - (The whole comics rock.. I like all arcs from it)
3. Carnage vs Venom - Birth of Toxin

So, what are yours?

Currently I am rereading the 'I'll Take Manhattan' story arch in the '90s Catwoman
comic.

*Sigh* I'll get the obvious out of the way....Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, Kingdom Come.

Only comic books prior to Manga that I read with any continuity were Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog. They need to release some kind of omnibus for that series. I'd buy it.

Batman: Knightfall (not a very popular arc, but I needed something to read, and it's Bane's first appearance.)
The Sandman: The Kindly Ones. First one I ever read, still holds up.
Mystic: ??? (Because the company bankrupted, there was never an official arc title. Anyway, my favorite part of the series is when she has to convince the spirits that she's deserving of their help.
The Book of Lost Souls: Issues 1-6. The series got canceled! NOOOOO
The Crow (original series). Packs a punch as much now as it did twenty years ago.
Dragonlance Chronicles: Dragons of Winter Night *points at new avatar*

Watchmen, V for Vendetta, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, etc.

Um, pretty much all the comic books I read are one story, be it short (Watchmen) or long (Bone)

Hmmm... well I haven't been reading comics for that long, and I've only been reading mainstream, so mine are going to seem kinda new and cliched....

House of M (I liked seeing how all the character's lives where changed when they got exactly what they wanted.)

Infinite Crisis

Venom Arc

and that's all I can think of at the moment.....

I tend to read comics that are a complete story, and I am still in the process of expanding my knowledge of the world of comics. That said, here are some of my favorite stroies, be they arcs or otherwise.

First off, the obvious: Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Dark Knight Returns

Civil War (I'll admit it may just be because it's new and feels fresh at the moment. If it gets ret-conned it will go off my list)

Most of my favorites are long past. The first one on the list is even a little cliche now.

Crisis on Infinte Earths
The White Triangle story arc from the Legion of Super-Heroes in the mid 90's
Death of Superman
Batman: No Man's Land

My favorite series are mostly dicontinued, too. I guess i am not in the target audience for comics

I have the TPB of INFINITE CRISIS.
The whole arch in Supergirl that featured the God-child was interesting.
But on the whole I liked the story arch where Linda Danvers has to take to the road with Buzz to find the 'other' Supergirl after they were split in two again.
That was interesting,especially since it was basically a way of redefining her and making her more human again with less power than before.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does ret-conned mean?

Oh, and I'll have to add The Killing Joke to my list also.

Retcon is short for Retroactive Continuity. It is making changes to previously established facts deliberately.

House of M - ...well, the whole thing.
Civil War - see above.
Wolverine - Civil War arc and current Sabertooth/Wolverine history arc
Astonishing X-Men - Danger! arc
New Avengers - Sentry arc
Ultimate Spider-Man - The first Black Cat story arc.
Ultimate Fantastic Four - the first story arc.
Ultimate X-Men - the one that had the orthodox Jew ninjas. There was some really cool stuff going on, too, but that sealed it for me.

Spider-man: The Black Costume
Elfquest: the whole thing but the fourth book is my favorite part. Winnowill is quite a villain
Bone
X-men: the one that had that dismal future in it. COol story! (no not that Age of Apocalypse version)
Batman: the Long Halloween, The Joker Fish, Knightfall, Prodigal (Dick Grayson dons the suit), Death in the Family (Jason Todd dies), the Dark Knight Returns

You mean the Days of Future Past arc, right? The one where the Sentinels have taken over and put most mutants in concentration camps.

I also have to add Age of Apocolypse to my favorite arcs.

I don't know if it is Ret-con or not but the entire Untold Tales of Spider-man basically retells the story of Peter Parker in the early days adding new information that was never previously revealed such as the fact that MJ KNEW Peter and Spidey were one and the same even before Peter told her.

The Ghost Rider "Blaze: Legacy Of Blood" arc/miniseries is awesome.
So is The Death Of Superman arc that goes through a lot of comic series.
And I second the Orthodox Jew ninja arc of Ultimate X Men, but there was one issue that I read before that was about the X-Men seeing animal cruelty when Sammy Pare (The fish kid) found that these kids were killing animals. It had to be the saddest comic I've read.

OH! And The Tick! I don't have a favorite arc 'cuz it's all funny!

Oh, I totally forgot about Superman's death! The World Without a Superman was the best part of the whole story.

Catwoman.
Actually as far as it goes the '90s Catwoman had the best finale of any comic I read.I especially enjoyed the fact that they went all the way and had her unveiled in public.

Dude, she's been in TWO story arcs of USM. One was really serious, and the other ended hilariously. I really like USM's portrayal of her.

For some reason I never did get Catwoman #76 so the next in the No Man's Land
I have is #77.
Actually the '90s Catwoman comic was probably one of the best comics spun from
Batman.It was also one of the best that featured a female protagonist.

Used to read the Bionicle comics a LONG time ago.....

I look back on them every now and again and for being something from LEGO they're still pretty sweet......(though I think they should've ended their saga while it was still good. I mean how many transformations do these guys have to go through before they have the power they need?)

I was reading the Civil War arc the other day when I came across something strange. In his personal story, Wolverine is blown up by Nitro, who starts the whole Civil War process when he destroys a small town in Conneticut, to nothing but his skeleton. Now, the same thing happens in an early 90's X-men arc called Days of Future Past in an alternate universe, except he dies and in this one he lives. Just thought that was really strange, maybe an example of a retcon? Unless I missed something and his healing powers were supercharged or something like that... >.>

Finished No Man's Land in Catwoman.What made this a excellent arc was guest
appearances by not only Batman but also Oracle,Penguin,Lex Luthor and his
femme fatale chauffuer/body guard Mercy.Plus the Hardcases a group of psionic
mercenaries hired by Bats in his civilian form of Bruce Wayne to protect the discs
he asks Catwoman to steal.(And people think that Bruce doesn't have a twisted
sense of humor!)
Issue #77 was especially fun as Catwoman gets even with Mercy by causing all sorts of havoc to Lexcorp.
