I still haven't figured out how she even managed to be nominated for an Oscar for that role.

And I agree also about what you said as personality over ability. I have to admit even though I said Paul and Jess are aweful, from what I've seen of them else where, they seem like two of the nicest people in Hollywood.

But its called ACTING. Not Mr. Personality ;)

And I think most of the time crappy actors are only cast cause they look good, not cause they're nice. There are plenty of other crappy actors who have major egos AND they can't act... they just look hot.

I think most of the time people cast in this order:

Looks
Acting
Personality

And then there is usually some combo in there that sets so and so apart from the rest.

Amen. I know Natalie Portman is generally considered a good actress, but since the only thing I've seen her in was Star Wars*, I never would have known it. Even Samuel L. Jackson fell a little flat under the ill-fated hand of Lucas' directorship.

*Well, I've seen V for Vendetta and enjoyed it; but that was after. Even then I didn't like the character so much; but that was just because the Wachowskis altered Evey COMPLETELY from Moore's graphic-novel. The new character they came up with, Miss Portman portrayed well.

Paul Walker can seem like a unexperienced actor at first, but after you watch some of his other movies besides The Fast and the Furious, he does what he does well.

I can't think of any right now....It's late....

Russell Crowe is an AMAZING actor, but people say he's not a nice guy, thus he doesn't get hired a lot.

No, shooting you through the heart only hurts you for a few minutes....
How could you diss him? He is a good actor!

I like Chuck Norris, but it did take him a while to learn how to act, since he was a karate jock before any of that.

Will Ferrell is so fake, and I can't stand to see him...but that's probably the point, isn't it?
