Second,the Danish actor who plays John Amsterdam gives him a really laidback style when it comes to personality.It could have been easy for him to play him a bit cynical,after all he's been around since the 1600s!
Third,the time lapse showing the evolution of Manhattan from an Indian village to the modern 21st century city it is today was well done.
Fourth,the seguing between the past and present was also well done.
Fifth,from the minute the woman steps off the subway and John has his heart attack it's clear that his search for her will be intergal to the series.This is going to make an interesting subplot.
Overall from the pilot I would say that it deserves
