I looked up information on this since the original series is such a fond memory and I have to say, although the cheese factor looks to be about the same (the costumes, wow), those are some no joke Gladiators they found (from SI.com):
Titan: Former 4-time Mr. Olympia who can do 35 pull-ups in 30 seconds. (Dude...)
Hellga: Third place in the 2001 World's Strongest Woman and has a 1,625 lb. leg press.
Crush: Cage fighter and a cast member of Oxygens Muay Thai Reality show Fight Girls.
Justice: 6'8, 290 lbs. 22 inch arms. Big guy.
Mayhem: 34-0 in the K-1 fight league. 'Nother big guy.
There are twelve of them altogether. That is a serious amount of human performance power.
