The BASIC FAQs

It isn't a big site, or even that much to look at, but it does the job for which it was designed. The BASIC FAQs is my home on web, made for the purpose of sharing Christ's good news and showing off the talents He gave me for His glory.

Please feel free to drop in for a visit any time, and especially check out my Project Conglomeration and Melodies of Heaven pages. ^_^

For the first time in almost a year since I first got it online, I've given the site a bit of an overhaul. Check it out if you like! ^_^

I noticed from my server logs that someone had tried to get at my guestbook today and couldn't. That's been happening on a regular basis ever since I first got it online last year. Let's try to troubleshoot this...

On my end, the slashes in the guestbook address got replaced in the logs with some hex code starting with a percent sign. Does it help to know that I run the site off a Windows 98 SE server?

Stupid FreeURL! (Grumble, grumble...)

Edit: No longer using FreeURL, so none of this post applies any more or ever will.

I like it a lot! I'm DLing one of your MP3s right now..hehe!
Your images...I noticed that they have sky blue backgrounds. Did you intend for them to be that way, or did the transparency fail somehow?

This is a somewhat complicated answer, but I did it both by accident and on purpose. You see, the site's original background tiling that I used for a year until last month was sky blue, and I made the images' background the same color to give the illusion of transparency to the user. (I use the GIMP for my graphics, but I don't use it enough to know how to make transparent regions. ) When I changed the color of the background tiling (to make the text easier to read), I forgot to change that of the images as well--but I decided I liked the contrast so I left them alone. (It's more practical that way, too--it shows the user where the clickable regions actually are.)

So, to make a complicated story short, I intended them to be that way. ^_^

Ah, okay! If you do decide to use transparency in the future and have trouble, just drop me a line, and I'll be glad to help! Looking forward to visiting again soon!
