Anybody else ever used 3D Gamestudio? If so, what did you think of it? Did anyone actually publish a game with it? Just wondering...

I have version 5 that came with a book on game design that I've had for a couple of years, and I've had a look at it; but it was too complicated. 3D concepts confuse me greatly; I'll just stick with 2D, thanks. ^_^;

That's cool. What 2D program do you use?

I'm just using a 2D engine that I programmed myself in Visual Basic 6 for DirectDraw 7. ^_^

I dont think I'd want to use a gamestudio to program my games, really. I like coding things myself.
Although if I'm ever going to make home-made top-notch 3D graphics I'll need to read some a lot more literature thats for sure

Although you can 'click-together' (make without programming) a game with 3DGS, the best games with 3DGS (Or pretty much any decent game...the 'clicked together' games stink...) are programmed using a C/Java hybrid language called C-Script. The engine is really powerful and flexible. You can program any genre game by yourself...the engine just interfaces with Windows and renders for you. Anyway...
