Apparently, according to leport's blog and a few other sources, the entire San Francisco staff have been laid off.

The heck? This is crazy.... I like Techtv... one more reason to dislike comcast, I guess... well, I'm losing cable TV soon... so it doesn't reallt bother me... too bad. (Cable TV and Cable Internet cost to much together, so I had to settle with one.) Anyways, sad news...

Yep, unfortunately Tech TV was the only thing I was really looking forward to when I get digital cable back.

Hmm. To be honest, I think that between the two channels, they have one good lineup of programming. All I watch on TechTV is the Anime Unleashed and X-Play, and occasionally, Screen Savers. On G4 I watch Filter, Pulse, Cinematech, and that show with Tommy Tallarico in it.

This means that instead of watching reruns of starcade at 3:00 AM, maybe I can now watch Anime Unleashed being re-aired of something. This merger makes sense to me because of the large market share that the two channels share and compete for.

As far as firing Leo and the rest of the TechTV staff goes, I'm really disappointed, and I would hope they could all eventually get their jobs back before their severance packages run out, if they want them back. Or, maybe they could get the backing to start their own network.

This I will say in defense of Comcast Cable: Their On-Demand cable service is an excellent idea. Offering free cable programming at any time, day or night for networks like TechTV, G4, and the Anime Network, is a great way to really earn all that money they are getting for their digital cable packages. (And it single-handledly triples the amount of anime available to me.)

P.S. Last Exile is a great anime by the way Sieg, but I would not have watched it if it wasn't on TechTV On Demand.

I'm really upset about this, seriously that was the only reason I signed up to Time Warners crappy Digital Cable. Seriously a lot of cool programming is gone to top it all off too. Sad times indeed for television, ah well maybe I'll just get more intuned with anime now.

One question, I guess this eliminates alot of the programming like X-Play, Anime Unleashed, Screen Savers ?

Better not, or I might consider boycotting the network. I think X-play and anime unleashed will stick around, but I'm pretty sure screen savers is gone.

Get this... I was watching G4 yesterday, they've already ported X-Play over to G4 (I guess in prep for the switch to a single network).

The whole thing definatly pulls the plug on paying for the digital cable.... When/if I get it again it'll just be whatever my TV will tune in (works better that way anyway).

Getting rid of SS is just brainless... Honestly, you can't get rid of their most popular show... It's just wrong... And financially irresponsible.
But, you probably have me to blame for this. Because I should stop watching TV so much, God got rid of screensavers... They'll probably drop Lain, Boogiepop, and Crest of the stars and only show soul taker, that horrible Kia Asamia show, and that one horror show. I'm also probably responsible for Simpsons coming to an end... Don't be surprised if King of the Hill gets taken off, too... Oh, and when Silent Hill 4 never gets a US release, it's also my fault
Don't ask...

Very noble of you to step up like a man and accept responsibility, but let's not point fingers. Seriously though, God IS sovereign, and He knows what He is doing, even if I don't like it, I'll trust Him, and dispense with the complaining. If I can't learn to do that when a TV show I like gets pulled, how could I be ready to trust God when some seriously hard stuff starts to hit me. Anyway...I was going to say something for a cheap laugh, but I've changed my mind. I'm in too contemplative a mood right now to be funny. So off-topic...my apologies.
