Hello All.
I have a bit of a problem and normal tech support hasn't helped me. Installed a new graphics card and drivers, but the drivers stay active only up through one reboot after which they need to be reinstalled. Reverts to Integrated Graphics card when this happens. Motherboard is a ASUS P4G533-LA, 512 RAM,up to 64 Mb integtrated graphics, no internet documentation... at least that I can easily find. Card is PCI Radeon 9200, 128 mb. Tried changing it in BIOS and in Windows... nothing, except a period of time working w/ 4bit graphics due to an error (this has been repared).

Have you tried disabling the integrated graphics card? It's most likely in the BIOS. Just keep searching.

OOps, forgot to mention... I went into BIOS and set it to PCI slot for primary graphics, I dont really know how to disable it in there otherwise. I think it's running Phoenix BIOS. Didn't do anything. Horribly frustrating. Could there be a plug to switch on the mb possibly?

Most motherboards, esp. those in pre-built systems (Dell, HP, Gateway, eMachines, etc) have jumper settings on the motherboard for disabling the display... in the end though my system still thinks the built in ATI card is an active card.

To get around this I've simply told Windows to ignore that device (the old card). BTW, make sure your monitor is plugged into the new card, not the old connector (this should be obvious, but over the years I've learned that nothing really is).

This is why I've never liked integrated devices on motherboards.... however it's an evil we have to live with.
