Screen capturing in Windows Media 9.0?

I've been trying to take some Mantantei Loki Ragnarok screencaps for a site I want to start, but no matter what I use, whether it's a screencap program or the print screen button, I can't take a screen cap from Windows Media. Yes, I know it's there for copyright reasons, but pictures are hard to come by otherwise, and I've already bought the manga series, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a way I can get screencaps otherwise. ^^;

What happens when you try? Blank capture? Doesn't capture anything? ...

I know what you mean -- do you get a weird "window" when you paste it into the graphics program?

What you need to do is get something like PowerDVD (which can play any format with a codec installed) and use the screencapture feature, this can be configured to capture to the clipboard or save as a file. Simply hitting printscreen won't work.. apparently this is something to do with the way the data is transferred from the dvd player to the graphics card.

Other DVD players might also have a screencapture feature... PowerDVD just happens to be the one I use.

Or you can use Virtual Dub. It's a video-editing software you can d/l freely at virtualdub.com.

^_^ Yeah...I was using .avi files I had to try to take screencaps. The box moved so I couldn't get what I wanted - it would always turn to black. =/

Virtual dub worked though! ^____^ Made me happy! Thanks all for your help! *group glomp*

Interesting picture. Thanks for the tip, too, SwordSkill...I've been looking for a program so I can take screencaps of any video file...I'll be sure to look into VirtualDub.
