Auto-hide blues

Hi all,

My dad always has MS office on his machine at work, and it is set to auto-hide on the right side of the screen. Personally, I can't stand it and don't understand how he could possibly like something that pops up everytime you move your cursor over to move the scroll-bar, or close a window! In fact, sometimes when viewing a dark page I move my cursor all the way to the side of the screen just to get the big white thing off the screen

Anyway, I thought about putting it on the top, but then it pops up whenever you want to minimize, close, or resize a maximized window. I thought about putting it over on the left, but then I can't get to 'file' menus or the 'back' button on my browser!

Argh!

right now I have it in window form and hiding in the left-bottom corner, the farthest away from the parts of the screen I actually use as possible, with only the 'minimize' button showing. Which of course almost ruins the purpose of the whole thing entirely.

The thing I don't get is, why can't dad settle for having a shortcut bar on the bottom of the screen, and a desktop, and a start menu? Why must there be 3 easy access links to everything?

So annoying...

GAH! That sounds so much like my dad it's not even funny. I feel for you, man...:) No helpful suggestions, though, except for one, that goes something like this:

start/settings/control panel/add-remove programs/MS Office/remove program...

Ink: Dad, I have no idea where it went...<.< >.> bahahahah...

LOL! I already tried that, and its like "who turned off the office bar? [oh well I guess I'll turn it back on]

On second thought, I didn't deactivate it (specifically) I just closed it but the fact that he seemed to notice it was gone after restarting it implied that it had been turned off. Apparently my little brother just closed it, which really stinks because now dad's just gonna A) blame it on me B) turn it back on and C) now I have to fix it into the corner again!

I don't use Office, but I have used Works which kind of does the same thing; I fixed it by disabling some option that allows it to start up when Windows starts up. Maybe that would help.

The "evil genious" way to do it would be to find the line in the registry that opens it up and type "REM (space)" in front of the line which launches it.
