Laptop Graphics Card Upgrade?

Postby Shao Feng-Li » Thu Jan 29, 2009 8:20 pm

I've been... blessed with a Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family in my Inspiron E|1705. I have two, according to my device manager...

You all know how powerful that little card is, but I'm wanting to know if it's possible to upgrade to something like a NVidia 7800GO. I know one can replace lesser video cards in the E|1705, like going from an ATI 1400-something-or-other to the 7800go.

I don't really want to get into my laptop until I know that the 945GM chipset is replaceable.

I'm not sure you can change the main graphics cards on laptops, because they're typically built into the motherboard. Good luck if you can though.

I haven't known it to be easily upgradeable either.

I know that it can be done with my model of laptop, I just don't know if it can be done from the cheapo intel chipset.
