Death Note Re-Read LJ Comm

I come pimping a recently-created LiveJournal community for re-reading Death Note manga one chapter a week, complete with fancy-schmancy discussion on its literary merit, with the plot analysis and the character analysis and the theme analysis and the symbolism analysis and all that good stuff. We are going to be analytical to the point of snootiness, so if you like a good old-fashioned elitist Socratic-seminar-type manga analysis-fest, I encourage you to come around~
It be here:

Longtime fans and first-time readers are all welcome. The comm will be STRICTLY fandom free-- no fanworks, no all-caps fangirl squealing, and no slashing. I think this comes as a relief to some people =D

Not as much as I used to... fandom kind of sucked it out of me. However, it's the first series I've ever considered seriously, I guess.

The first chapter is "due" next Thursday (feb 7). So far, no one's signed up to host the chapter, and if no one does, I guess I'll be doing it >_>; which is NOT AS PLANNED.
And it's always a good choice =D Death Note is greattt, one of the best manga I've ever read (only behind Urasawa's Monster and Pluto).

One chapter a week isn't that big a time commitment; I should probably consider this. The idea sounds interesting, in any case. What is the host's role in this process?

(I really couldn't think of a better word.)
The "host," I suppose, is responsible for writing the chapter post for the assigned week. The post should include the typical stuff-- chapter summary, introduction to new characters, Death Note rules introduced, relevant images-- as well as commentary-- the "host's" impression, any themes/ideas that s/he finds relevant or interesting, implications the chapter has for the series or for the reader's interpretation, etc. The commentary section essentially gives the host free reign to bring up whatever relevant topics s/he would like to discuss with the group.
