I'm too tired to explain it all right now, but the Zune pretty much sucks. I would get the Creative Zen. The Zune is so hampered down by copy protection it is ridiculous.

Let's just say Creative basically invented sound, so they know what they're doing.

I can't explain all of it now, but the Zune is downright AWFUL. XD Go with the Creative. It's better. And if you have the funds, go with an iPod. All I can say, though, is that Apple >>>>>> Microsoft. XD

Creative is better than the iPod in many ways. And iPods are overpriced.

I'm not willing to pay for an iPod, but I am willing to own an iPod. They're solid, well put together, and stylish. If you want one free, there are a lot of legitimate websites that will give you one in exchange for signing up for things like creditcards and free trials that you can immediately cancel. tvfreeipod springs to mind. It's done by some company that got reviewed by one of the big game magazines a few years ago for their Console givaways and was rated as being very good. Reliable.
Either way, I trust Creative. They're a good company. Go with that one. The Zune is awful.

Why go through all the trouble? The iPod is not that expensive to begin with but you can buy a refurbished one for even cheaper straight off the Apple site.

And the only reason why they're not on the iPod is because they're Microsoft Propriatary format. Kind of like how iPods can play Macintosh propriataries (quicktime files and such).

Zen Vision:M hands down. Plays more format types (including DivX movies) and it looks better then the iPod in my opinion. And Creative has been doing sound since computers could make sound...prolly before that...so they know their way around sound.

Word of advice: If you by an HDD MP3 player GET A BELT CLIP CASE!!!! Make sure you don't drop the sucker...I had a Zen Vision:M, loved it to death, dropped it, head crash, end of Zen....and let me tell you something having to go from a Zen Vsion:M to a Sansa 2 gig mp3 player is like having to move from a farrari to a focus...

No clue about such, and I think the reason most people don't like wma is a) they are not as widely compatible b) they are not as good quality

Even on my PC I usually had some problem or another running them.

I would say a) is not really that much of an issue these days...
And b) is false, since WMAs are better quality than MP3s at the same bitrate.

Ah, havn't used wma since the days when i discovered MP3, also not much of an audiophile so never noticed *shrug* my bad.

I wouldn't use them now simply because they are a Microsoft monster

Vision:M does come with a converter. I never really played with how much it could convert but it converted some .mov files I believe. You won't have to convert to many file types. Vision:M plays a lot, you'll have to convert resolutions mostly. It does that.
