For those interested in DBs

It looks like open source technology in general got a real shot in the arm recently. This article make some interesting points about a recent study which found MySQL (an open source DB) superior in quality to comercial products.

All of my servers run MySQL for their database systems, though I think I'll need to be upgrading the one on the primary database box (it runs an old 3.x era one and I need better ANSI features and transaction support).

I don't know very much about MySQL (I just install MySQL dbs and they run, that's all I know...:P). But I think it's cool that it holds up so well to the competition...^^ When's the last time you heard about a product having so few known problems to fix? *thinks of Microsoft and winces*

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

ah, the beauty of using a database. too bad i am forced to use a flatbed database, which sucks in both management and programming, so i should soon get another host that also has MySQL.

i love MySQL :)

MySQL is the only thing I've used, because since I've got into databases it's been the standard. As a result of this I can't really do any decent comparisons.

Any ideas about what problems these bugs caused? Does it have anything to do with database corruption?
