CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

This isn't a tech problem but rather, a request for software recommendations.

I'm looking for a electronic planner/task manager to install on my desktop computer. I desperately need some type of planner to help me keep track of projects and to-dos. I keep forgetting birthdays, doing important errands and setting project deadlines.

I think Outlook has a calendar but I removed that program thinking I'll never use it as a mail client. I would prefer a program that doesn't take up too much memory/disk space and if I had the additional option of changing the view of the calendar by a daily or weekly or monthly version, that would be awesome! <--- But I might be asking for too much. Freeware or not, I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Why not get a cheap Palm Pilot? Then you can carry it with you, even.

Hmmm..ok, what about the Palm Pilot Tungsten E? I have someone at my company selling it for $85 (assuming it's in good shape).

The regular Tungsten E has some severe battery life issues. If you can reinstall Outlook, it's not too bad as a calendar/todo list type of thing.

Hmm, I did see comments on battery life at online product reviews. I'll have a look at the item tomorrow and see what's it all about. I appreciate your input, Kaligraphic.

I bought a Z22 a few hours ago, for a base model, it's pretty cool.

But gimme a week and i'll have it running Doom.

Eh Mave it depend on what platform are you going for. If you are using the Planner like software on the Computer workstation such as the one for the Microsoft Windows system then Outlook as an software would be the best for you. If you are going to going for the PDA base then Palm Pilot is what you would looking for.

I have one last question: Is it wise to continuously charge my Palm even if it looks full or should I leave it to all drain out before recharging? l

I let my Palm continuously charge all the time. In fact, you should NOT let it run down, or you'll lose everything! It stores its contents in volatile RAM and uses the battery to keep the RAM intact. If the battery dies (typically a few days after it lacks enough power to turn the screen on), you have a "factory new unit."

So just leave it in the charger. It's what I've done with my m505 and my Zire 72, and no worries. Which one did you get?

(Btw, this doesn't apply to data on the hard disk in LifeDrives, and not to contents stored on SD cards, but it's still not a wise idea in these situations either to let it run down.)

I took the risk and bought the Palm Tungsten E, the one with bad reviews on battery life. (<.<);; Nevertheless, I just wanted something simple and user-friendly to begin with. I don't intend to do anything intensive on it (I mostly utilize tasks, calendars and random stuff like calculator/converters, language stuff) and hope the battery will last quite a bit with my usage type. I will eventually invest in something better next time.
