For the webmasters out there, do any of you use any 'web-statistic' services to track your visitors? I am preparing to start up a general information site and was wondering if it was worth adding in the code to track how my website was being visited. Any information is appreciated.

hmm... most hosts these days seem to include that in their standard packages...

True. But I am unfortunately stuck using a Geocities Plus account. It has terrible functionality and doesn't give me very specific results. So I need something that is outside of the host.

I use
sitemeter on my blog, which works fine for my purposes...

oh bleh... if you're thinking of making a serious website, move away from Geocities. You can get decent hosting nowadays for under 50 dollars a year.

Yes. Though ironically, Geocities was a "gift" given to me by someone who didn't really know any better about the other hostings available.
Tringard: Cool. I'll check into sitemeter.

if you use a meter, just make sure it stays hidden, so it's not some big blotch on the bottom of your site ;-)
