Ripping Softwares

Anyone know a good (and hopefully free) MP3 ripping software that rips in Variable Bit Rate?
I have been using Exact Audio Copy but it is so freakin' SLOW.

I'd point you to ripperx, but that's for Linux, so I'm afraid I can't help you much.
May I suggest doing the hard-way of ripping it to .wav then re-encoding it with lame encoder?

Well, that is what EAC does.

change your command line in the external compresison options, this is what i use:
--alt-preset fast standard %s %d
before i was getting maybe 4x extraction but it's up to 20-28x with the 'fast' switch added in.

Correction: Apparently ripperx is available for Windows as well. Google up for more detail.

i use itunes, i havent checked if it rips vbr

it's good, but not the best.
Media Monkey did it better than any program I have tried.
