are they supposed to die every 48 hours? even when they're in sleepmode most of that time?

of course not, are they standard AA or a special rechargable pack?

I use regular AA and those last for about a month with a lot of use almost every day.

I use the wireless mouse that came with my Graphire2. Although it has to stay on the touch pad, it uses inductance to power itself and so never needs batteries.

they're two Nickle metal hydroxide rechargable AA batteries that came with the mouse that died out so quickly. They're recharging now.

Well, if you have to recharge the batteries every otherday, it may SAVE money in the long run (on electricity). At the very least, you mouse will be there when you need it WAY more frequently that way.

My wireless mouse batteries usually last around a month at a charge. (2 rechargeable 1600mAH NiMH AA cells.)

Is this a new wireless mouse? And does it use AAAs?

It seems to me you have a problem. New batteries should not die that quickly rechargeable or not. Perhaps you have bad batteries, or perhaps your mouse is not going to sleep.

Of course, I should look at dates before I post, so perhaps you have already solved your problem?

yep, the non-rechargable batteries are lasting forever. My woes are over. :)

Also, my gf bought me a non-wireless 5 button optical for my birthday, which is kewl. It's Ergonomic for a right-handed mouse user... but I use left handed... ^^;
