There was a game called "Zero Wing" for the Genesis that was badly translated when it was localized. The intro ended up something like:

Somebody set us up the bomb!!
We get message!!
CATS (bad guy):How are you gentleman
CATS: All your base are belong to us!!
What you say!!
CATS: You have noe hope for survival
CATS: Make your time!!
CATS: Hahahaha!!

I can understand something like that becoming big. It's been years and my brothers and I still quote stupid lines from video games.
