My cable modem is POSSESSED!!

O--kay, so here's what's going on. My internet connection is pretty much BLOWING UP!!

Well, there are a few sites I can access. This is one of them, praise the Lord! The other noteable one is google (I can run searches but I can't access any of the sites that it pulls up.) But pretty much any other site I try gets a "This site cannot be displayed message." I even worked earlier today!

I have a cable modem that's networked together with two other computers. I've tried the few tricks I know on the stupid computer; Re-booting the computer, un-hooking and reconnecting the modems, double checking that the connections are in working order. Sadly, nothing's worked yet.

The only action which happened between this morning when it worked and this evening when it doesn't is that my little brother noticed that something odd was going on with it, so he got on my computer and messed around with the network settings a little bit. I think I've returned them all to normal, but -- I'm not one hundred percent positive.

Any suggestions on things I could try to fix it. I'm desperate here, people! :waah!:

NOTE: If worse comes to worse, I'll call the person who set up the cable modem and her what the problem is. Afterall, she only lives two doors down. . .

*raises hand* Me too! :waah!:

I can't access anything else except CAA and occasionally hotmail. If something loads up, it takes forever or the dreaded "_______ website does not exist" (something in that line....in some pop up window) . 0.o;;;

What's going on? Any ideas?

Same problem with DSL (SBC). Internet works fine if you START there, but if you start at CAA, it all gets gummed up like Mave and Mangafanatic say...

ALERT: THIS IS NOT THE RESULT OF YOUR CABLE MODEM! THE ISSUE IS BECAUSE YOUR ISP'S DNS SERVER HAS BORKED!!!!

ugh... i told you two in general! you have to change your DNS server!!!!

1. How to change your DNS server!!!!! (this is on windows xp, on earlier versions, the instructions are... a little bit of the same, but i dont have it so i dont know exactally how to do it on other verisons)

1. Go to your control panels
2. go to your network connections
3. right click your primary connection (the one that is connected) and click on "properties"
4. under general tab, click the internet protocol tcp/ip connection (DONT UNCHECK) and click properties.
5. change ur settings to input your own DNS server... and make change your primary to a different one... CHANGE it to 69.56.237.50 (its the IP for http://www.theplanet.com)

I am currently on this IP: 69.56.237.50

But it's not just 2 people with Comcast. Like I said I have the same problem with a DSL modem from SBC. Implies a problem in CAA I think?

I had the same problem last night and I use comcast.

Its fix now as what MSP said and I think the download speed maybe faster or I think.

AH: What? Can you elaborate on that one? I'm just not sure how that implies a problem with caa...?

Ah, sorry. I didn't know you replied.

When I go into CAA, the DSL just snarls up and I wind up with nothing but "page not found" if I try to go elsewhere. However, if I go surf the internet (not starting at CAA), there are no obstructions to go from site to site as it is once I log on.

I'll admit the possibility that I'm using false reasoning, since I'm not too tech inclined.

Initially, I did not have this problem, but now I too am getting it.

I'm browsing with Firefox and I am using a cable connection.
