IE vs Mozilla Flash

I hit Newgrounds every so often to see what new Flash stuff comes around, if I find something good I save it for later.... that's not the problem though.

The game Alien Homonid (or something like that) was originally a Flash game that they had at Newgrounds, so with the release of the game the original flash was brought to the front page and I played and then downloaded it.

Once downloaded I tried to drag-drop it back into Firefox but it keeps giving me the "open with" or download box.... the program that I'v been playing the movies with offline (Media Player Classic) doesn't work with the game since you have to use they keyboard (and they keys are already assigned). Both seem to use the same Flash engine, however when I dropped it into an IE window to play it, the game ran very, very fast.

Any idea on what the deal is here?

1) Anyone know why my Firefox would not want to play SWF unless they're Embedded into an HTML file?

2) Any idea why the Flash game ran so much faster on IE than on Firefox/MPC

The simple way to get sites to change is just to not use them until they change.

Um volt - what trouble did you have with the Mozilla store? I'm using Firefox 1.0 for Mac and I have no trouble there. Maybe it's a paypal extension?

And for the record, I don't use IE and I don't consider myself a fool. MY bank allows me to use Firefox. ;)

Opera can play straight flash files (loaded directly), and a quick test tells me that Firefox can too. Try updating to the latest version of Firefox, and use File->Open File, then open the swf.

Oh, and I'm getting trouble-free browsing with Opera, and haven't run into anything serious with Mozilla or Firefox in a while. The only thing I really use IE for is windows update.
