You know wha tI'm talking about... Those annoying warnings that pop up when you're in the middle of something and then closes it down, because your computer must have broke the law...
So, what is it?

It's just a fancy way of a PC telling you that the processor and/or OS can't perform an assigned task a program has requested. When this happens, you get an error message dimly telling you what the problem was (well, more like attempting to) and then, "nicely" closing outt the program... in result deleting that 5 page paper you had due the next day. This "illegal operation" may be caused by many things; like a bug in the program (or maybe OS) or because a weird chain of circumstances that happened that the OS and program didn't expect.

That help at all?

Probably because the new macs don't have very many. Most people who use them do so because they love them - and that almost exclusively due to their low-fault content. The mac I'm typing this on has been running for almost a month straight. I just don't bother to turn it off. I use it 4-5 times a day. My machine that I use at work has been running non-stop for 3 years. I only reboot it when I install something that makes me. I've never been able to do that with a windows box. The new(est) versions of windows, however, are *better*...

For various deffinitions of better.

Anyway, that's an argument that goes back and forth all the time, and only seems to make people mad. Although I can't for the life of me see why anyone would get mad... O.o It's probably best not to hijack this thread and go off on that tangent...

Lol. So it's just a pathetic excuse to close your program....

It's a sign your pc has mental issues and needs to either see a psychologist or go to jail.

Illegal operation = your computer will soon be sued for medical malpractice.
(or a program wanted to do something your computer couldn't figure out how to do.)
