Hello,

A while ago I started a thread on evolution and creation, however that thread was closed by UCP,for reasons concerning a debate sparking.

For those of your who are wondering, I agreed with UC and the thread has remained closed.

However, we both agreed that a link should be posted, being the subject is one of great importance and influence in todays christian community, mainly to answer any questions concerning the Bible and Science, and the myths concerning both.

So, thats what I'm here to do. Post a link. The link is the the Institute Of Creational Research located in San Diego Cal, which is mainly a think tank of dozens of scientist dedicated the Creation Science and research. Anything from Neanderthals to Dinosaurs to Astronomy can be researched here. Personally, as a dinosaur buff from old, I felt it my duty to make available information that took me years to find out.

So, here is the link. NOTE: This does not mean that this thread is open to the descusion or debate of any of the material found. Any questions regarding the material found is for the moment not availible for descussion.

It is also very highly advised that any moderators or the Manger close this thread unless you wish to post something further.

If this thread is in the wrong place, all I can say is sorry, but there really wasn't any sutible place for it in the Christian Growth section. Feel free to place it anywhere alse you see fit however.

Whew, so much trouble just to gain knowledge, how irronic...he he.

God bless,
Archan

So long as this thread stays civil, it can remain open. Please just remember there are widely varying views on such subjects, even within the same faith.

Also, if I might add, check out Creation Science Evangelism at http://www.drdino.com
The seminars by Dr. Kent Hovind are particularly good, I'd highly recommend them. Thanks!

Ahhhhh....

So this is where it goes. Groovey.

Wow, so you want to keep it an open thread Ash? Oooookkkaaaayyyyyy, though not even I can really see where this thread will go if left open, I hope it's somewhere good, but I've seen alot of other threads go bad, I pray this wont be one of them.

Lots of guts keeping it open Ash, as you and I have talked about already this is one of the number one things that are debated about today. Lots of guts, you truly are Scottish  (You kow I mean that in the best of ways huh  )

Also, any other links are welcomed now that the thread is open. However I must stress they be soley related to the thread topic. I would like to keep this thread single subject.

God Bless
Archan

In the interest of keeping the thread "both sidded," it should probably be noted that a great many people don't agree with ICR's "science." Both Christian and non-christian.

(NOTE: Please do not tangent on *which* science is not agreed with, as that will proabaly start the downward spiral.) ;)

I should mention that it is imperative to develop a full understanding of the subject. One cannot properly understand evolutionary theories without reading the explanations written by the proponents of these theories. In other words, if you want to find out what the scientists are saying, it is essential to read their own words, and not someone else's summary of them. To that end, I strongly recommend browsing the "Talk Origins" websites, which contains many well-written articles and importantly, cites the original literature. The site can can be found at:
http://www.talkorigins.org

Hopefully, it will provide some answers.

I would also recommend reading Pope John Paul II's 1996 address to the Pontifical Academy, which touches on the question of how evolution is to be understood with respect to the Christian faith. While the address covers theological issues, and not scientific ones, it is well worth reading.
http://www.newadvent.org/docs/jp02tc.htm

Lastly, I should also mention that there are many, many good popularizatons available on evolution and related sciences. You should be able to find these at your local library.

Let's keep this restricted to links only, please. We've had evolution-vs-creation threads before, which inevitably degenerate. If you have links for people to read and draw their own opinions from, that's fine, but let's restrict it to that.

One other site that I recommend is that of the American Scientific Affiliation, a group dedicated to forming a Christian perspective on the sciences. They can be found at
http://www.asa3.org

With respect ot this thread, the following section is most relevant http://www.asa3.org/ASA/topics/Bible-Science/index.html

In particular, the following article should be of some interest, in that it dicusses radiometric dating techniques. It is entitled "Radiometric Dating: A Christian Perspective" and gives an overview of the theory and metholodolgy of some current geochronological dating methods. It can be found at:
