Sound problems.

Postby Anison Twilight » Thu Aug 11, 2005 10:13 am

Alright so I've been having quite a few problems with my computer lately and all of it has led me up to one incredible conclusion: I hate Dell.

Alright, so now I turn to my computer geek friends of CAA. Now, I'm not one to be a newbie about just about anything computer, BUT...my computer is driving me crazy.

The problem:

My sound doesn't work for internet ONLY. It's freakish. I think the old spirit of my last computer has possessed my brand new one. I hate possessed computers. Anyway...The sound does work whenever I play a CD, DVD, music files from my computer, or video files that were already on my computer. The sounds does NOT work when I try to watch something from the internet like Strong Bad or when I go to a site that I know has music in the background. Also the quick icon for volume that is supposed to be down on the taskbar isn't there and won't show up no matter what I do.

The history:

Previously my computer had to have parts replaced because of a heating problem. The parts that were replaced: Heat sink, RAM, motherboard, and power supply. The problem that is plaguing me now didn't start up until after my computer was fixed and the new parts were installed.

So if you have some idea what the problem is please give me a ring.

Have you got the option turned on in your browser's settings to play sounds when viewing web pages? For me, that's the first thing that comes to mind. Hope that helps... :)

Yeah, I tried that already, but that isn't the problem I'm facing I'm afraid. It's driving me crazy. I've called Dell about it, but it isn't a hardware problem, so they all direct me over to software support which costs an arm, a leg, and a liver to use. It's 100 bucks for one problem and over 200 if you want to get full service coverage for the whole year. That's fine and all, but most of the time I don't have to worry about software and the problem I am having started after a technician fixed a hardware problem I was having. Plus this is not a good time to just lay down 100 dollars and I really don't want to cost my parents that much money. This predicament drives me bonkers and I just wish my computer was fixed and I didn't have to worry about it anymore. It makes me tired, so I'm going to bed.
