You might get more visibility on this if you put it in the Computing section.

S'ok, I'll get it.

Flash is a pretty expensive bundle...you can get a trial from Macromedia.com. Me personally...I preferred Swish, it's a lot easier to handle for a beginner (although admittedly, it doesn't have the same amount of power, but it's a lot less expensive).

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Macromedia at least *used* to offer a free 30 day trial of it from their website. I don't know if it's still there, though. I downloaded that over a year ago, I think.

Swish is excellent for text animation - it has some effects and actions built right in that are a pain in the butt to create in Flash. If you do actually take the plunge and get a Macromedia product, I'd suggest Flash MX. It's not the newest version of Flash out there, but Flash 2004 is very programmer oriented. Flash 2004's interface makes the assumption that you're an average programmer and there's less pre-written script in the library. Also, a lot of the commands that you learn in Flash MX have changed in Flash 2004. While I'm sure they had their reasons for it, it was not a cool thing to do in my book.

If you're looking to do some light animation for the web, then I'd say go with everyone else's suggestion and check out Swish.

yes, its quite difficult to understand, all I was able to do was make mr. bean sing "im blue" with that over-used cut-out mouth moving up and down.

then i gave up. I don't have it now, which is probably good.

Whoa. Flash MX is already outdated? *sigh*

BTW: You can get Flash via Student Discount and save about $50.00, I think.
