Speakers on TV?

Postby Etoh*the*Greato » Wed Apr 04, 2007 10:59 pm

Alright, this isn't a strictly computer question, but it does involve a piece of computer hardware: My speakers. See, I've got these speakers on my PC that are wonderful. They've not been getting use because my PC is well... dead. I started thinking, though, that if I could get them to work as surround on my TV, good times would be had by all. I've seen lots of info on how to do it by plugging the TV in to my soundcard (they even suggested using the exact one I have), but obviously that requires a functioning computer. I just want to plug my speakers directly in to the television.

Most "surround sound" systems require a separate amplifier to get the effect you want. Unless your TV has a powered audio out, you're probably not going to be able to do much with what you've got there. You could open the TV and re route your internal speakers to a set of external ones, but you can't really run them in tandem very easily.

Our TV has a standard 3.5mm headphone output jack, which we plug in a speaker set which could be considered "computer speakers"...
Everywhere like such as, and MOES.
