My Macbook Pro doesnt connect to the internetttt

Postby chibiphonebooth » Mon Dec 25, 2006 12:38 pm

I just got a Macbook Pro for Christmas, and I love it, but I am new to Macs. I've delt with PCs my whole life. i have a Macbook 10.4.6 and whatever I do, it won't connect to the internet. I know it has an airport in the laptop, but everytime I try to get it to hook up to the 2wire connection we have in our house, it says Error.

I don't know what to do!

;-;

anyone have a mac???

Yes I do. Explain your current internet setup in more detail.

Btw, I'm drooling right now. XD

well, everytime we try to get the AirPort to access the internet, we pick the internet connection that we have in the house and put in the password, and then it says "Error"

what do you want to know, exactly?

What kind of router is it, is it Mac compatible?

She could but you couldn't? Odd. Did you try the Network Assistant? That's the easiest way to setup an internet connection.

I'm not quite sure what to tell you though. If you selected the network and entered the password, the only thing I can think of is not having the right password, but that seems unlikely.

Yes, it's quite odd. I'm not sure what I can tell you without looking at the computer myself. I'm sorry.

Since it is new though and therefore under waranty, if there is an Apple Store near you, you can call them up and see if they can do anything for you.

I have 2wire...i hate it.

You might have to configure the mac to connect to the internet. Did you try typing in a security code of some sort? I have to type in the serial number of the router before I can connect.

yeah... you mean the 10 digit code?

i tried that and it says 'unable to connect to 2wire' or something like that.

You might want to try rebooting the 2wire router to see if that helps, if not, let me know. I'll see if I can dig up some better advice on the mac help lists.

Run Software Update under the Apple menu first, since you should be at system 10.4.8 plus you want all the updates it'll give ya.
