What is your calling?

Some people have the foolish notion that the only way in which they can live for God is by becoming pastors, missionaries, or Bible teachers. How many would be excluded from any opportunity of spiritual usefulness if this were the case. Beloved, it is not office--it is sincerity; it is not position--it is grace that will enable us to serve and glorify God. God is definitely glorified at the work place, office space, or school desk where the godly worker, employee, or student fulfills his task singing of the Savior's love. In this humble setting God is glorified far more than in many a lofty pulpit where official religion performs its scanty duties. The name of Jesus is glorified by the taxicab driver as he blesses God and speaks to his passengers of the living hope. He will be more useful than the popular preacher who goes about peddling the Gospel for profit. God is glorified when we serve Him in our proper vocations. Take care that you do not neglect the path of duty by leaving your situation, and take care you do not dishonor your place while in it. Think little of yourselves, but do not think too little of your callings. Every place may be a place used to be sanctified by the Gospel to noblest ends. Turn to the Bible, and you will find the most menial forms of labor or lowly position connected either with most daring deeds of faith or with persons whose lives have been illustrations of holiness. Therefore do not be discontented with your calling. Whatever God has made your position, remain in that, unless you are quite sure that He calls you to something else. Let your first concern be to glorify God to the best of your ability where you are. Fill your present sphere to His praise, and if He needs you in another, He will show it you. This day lay aside anxious ambition, and embrace peaceful content. “Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called himâ€

*nods* Good stuff there^^ And yeah I still think alot of people forget that callings can be more "simpler" things by say, chatting to co workers in your own town instead of having to go all the way to Africa to help spread His word and all that. For each their own.

For now, chemistry student. So, I gotta buckle down and learn the Calculus and the P. Chem.

For later? I really don't know. Probably not a scientist though.

For now, my calling is to be a sculptor. I sculpt fantasy creatures. How does that glorify God? I don't really know, except that I am living for Him and using the talents He has given me. If He has another assignment for me, I trust that He will let me know, but for now I am striving to be the best sculptor I can be. :)

For me ever since I got to see how albums (cd's) are made Ive felt a calling to do somthing in music tho recently (about the past year) Its been turning more into being a music teacher insted of a producer. Teaching isn't somthing I am particularly good at its just something I have a passon for. Who knows but whatever I end up doing I know God will use me there.

I'm still figuring out what my calling is. Thanks for the message, HS5K. That was great.

As a gamer I used games as a medium to spread God's word and finally have actually had one person be saved, which is great since he is a solider and no solider should fight without God backing them up IMO.

I really have no idea what God is calling for me to be... I try to listen but its hard to distinguish between myself and Him. Whatever it is I may have already done it or it is to come...no idea but I will just leave it up to Him as He knows when I will know since He knows everything. Situational Irony at it's best.

I'd like to believe that God has called me to be a mother. It's what I've wanted to be since I was about 5. No kids yet though... Guess I'll just have to be patient. :P

This may sound a little crazy, but I really feel that God has called me to create a Christian manga-type graphic novel. About a week ago it became painfully clear to me in a way that would take too long to describe. Anyway, I'm trying to spend a lot of time on it, since I am no longer working (God allowed me to become a homemaker!), but sometimes I just have to take a breather. I don't know if He has me doing this for a youth group, or a neighbor, or as something to actually be published :wow!: but all I know is I've been told to do it, so I am. Whether it's for 1 person or 1 million, that's not for me to worry about. It's in His hands. :thumb:

Guess we'll just see where he takes it... :eyeroll:

I think he just wants me to use my art to Glorify Him. Right now it could be in the form of a comic book, or animation, or even just drawing people and showing the Love of God.

I wouyld love to think that God wants me to do something AWESOMe with it. like make a christian comic book..or an animation... I feel it's one of these..

I think that the Lord is calling me to be a missionary in japan and he gave me a love of drawing Manga so it would open doors with people over there and that he also wants me to be a pulished writer but I little bit more unsure about this one because it something i want more than anything so i am not sure

I believe God is calling me to teach English...or do something like that overseas in Asia. I haven't figured out where yet...Japan, China, Thailand...I've always loved language and cultural stuff--I think God gives us all talents and interests for a reason. One reason is that he is just super-creative and wants us to be our own unique selves. Another reason is so that we can serve him with something we do well. For me, that's language arts...But right now, he's calling me to get my algebra homework finished...*mutters curses about summer classes*

I believe I am supposed to be a nurse. God has blessed me (sometimes it seems like a curse, lol) with compassion, and I can't sit by watching people suffer.

Talents and desires are two of the ways God shows you his will. I'm trying to recover mine, and as someone said, you don't know you've got till its gone. If theres something you want and you have the skills to make it hapen you should pray about it.

I believe that my Calling is to be a Christian Manga artist. I have a Gift with art, and I love Manga.
But I'm going through something right now, I guess maybe what a typical person would go through in their teens, but I"m a big late. I have an interest in voice acting and music, and I'm going through slight confusion, I think I should stay on the path of a Manga-ka, but I'm also interested in the two other things.

Oh, yeah, just to mention, I also have a love for most languages(getting over an issue with one), so I might end up translating Christian Manga.

For me? I think I have two "callings";

>first and foremost: to be a great dad, not saying that every guy should father a child. but my wife and I are expecting and I find myself changing on a daily basis. I feel so close to my unborn child. I Love them already and their only 13 weeks old! I'm even having sympathy pains! LOL! If I accomplish nothing else in this world, I want it to be this: bring a life into this world, providing for all his/hers every needs and most wants, and most of all; to show them the love and compassion that I missed out on during my pre-teen and teenage years.

>second, I have found that I have a knack for interpereting heirglyphs. perhaps I can find proofs for events in the Bible by showing that other civilizations recorded the same thing.

awwww....that's just....awwww!!!! You're wife must have a wonderful husband. ^^

Well, two things have been spoken over me:
prophetic art + nation shaker

My history now?
God used me to get one person via the internet ( IM ), and that person is now my ex. :/

I have no clue how God wants me to become a " nation shaker "...:/

Pssh, everyone else is lucky, they get to find out what they're gonna do at like 15 and 16, and here I am at 26 and I still have absolutely no freaking clue what I'm supposed to do. :\

Luck? It's not a bad thing to still be looking at 26. After all, your experiences, no matter how common they may seem, prepare you for what comes after. Indeed, not knowing is likely part of your preparation, as strange as it may seem. I, for one, am called to be a Nuclear Engineer for the time being. What that will lead me to in the future is beyond me, but for now this is my calling. However, while I've always been of the engineering temperament, what I thought I should do has changed over time, and may very well change in the future. Indeed, what I will be called to is less important to me than what I should be doing now. Whilst plans for the future are important, I've come to the realization that they, like plans of battle, usually only last until they are actually used, then they change, often quite drastically.

I agree with Puritan on this. I myself have changed my mind on what i will do with the little time I have here on earth. though i will never change my mind about wanting to be a dad. I've switched my plans for the future so many times that the only thing I absolutly know is that I WILL be dad, I AM preparing for a life in the Air Force, and I WILL ALWAYS do my best to be a good man

Nate, it may help to remember that no matter where you are you cannot be outside Gods Sovereign Will. Wherever you are in your life, right now, does not prevent you from glorifying God. Not everyone is called to some grand ministry, many Christians are called to be the 'light of the world' in the work place, school, ect. If you do not feel like you are glorifying God in anyway of your life, then identify areas in which you could work at it. In my opinion, the Church body is a great place to start. God have given you specific gifts to use, experiment with how you might use them. ^_^

EDIT: Oops, I forgot to write what I think is Gods calling for my life. I feel that God is calling me to minister to youth either here in the US or in Japan. He has affirmed this by providing the means for my wife and I to go back to school, and by providing us with the oppertunity to go to Japan last year. He has also given me an unexplainable desire to share His truth with the youth both in the US and in Japan. ;)

wow it's amazing what 6 months can add ne?

Lately I have been feeling that on top of my artwork that God wants me to get involved with helping out troubled Teens. A friend of mine is involved with a boy's home in Texas..and I really feel that I might be able to help teenage girls...

Of course I still think my art will also play a role in this.. ^^;

I'm not sure where I'll end up in the buisness feild, but I know God's called me to be a leader. how ever, I am pretty good with designing. but that's just it! I had a prophecy about it. but... if I'm a good designer, does god want me there? It's kinda confusing at times. but I still know I'm supposed to lead.

I think what God wants for me is to be a wife and mother. At least, that's all I know right now. That's fine with me because that's what I really want to do. Also, the road I'm traveling down may lead to Japan in the future...only God knows what kind of interesting opportunities that might open up!
