"when good things happen to bad people"

We all have heard of the popular questionable phrase "why does bad things happen to good people? (vice-versa)" and it's one that IS a hard question to answer, but being a Christian and all I guess the answer would be something like "Although it seems those things happen happen in THIS life, there's no telling what may happen in the next life..." or somethign along those lines^^ Anyways, my questin here is asking for scripture refering to such things. I'll give a bit of a background to describe what's going on...

Ok, my parents are divorced and it seems like my dad is getting the best of life out of the deal. He has a girlfriend and after selling property by a lake (which I had so many childhood memories at), they now spend their time travelling. He's retired, she hardly works. Every time I talk to him now it's always stories of his latest cruise or trip to Mexico (which happens quite literally every couple of weeks!) which makes me mad, upset, and sometimes even to the point of disgust, knowing that I've always wanted to travel, but money can be hard to come by for trips nowadays, and hearing about all these boastful adventures all the time. I've hardly traveled a hair around the planet but I so wish I could :/ I mean, I'm Christian and my mom is... well possibly is (not sure exactly on her faith and stuff) but I know my dad isn't and his g/f is some "other religion". So, after a childhood of him always being away on weekends and trips even then, he's having the time of his LIFE going on trips with his g/f all the time and my mom and I, with his depts :/ Basically he was hardly there for the family for basically my whole life anyhow. Yeah, it's no fun and makes me mad too (naturally...)

So in the relating the story to the topic, can anyone help me find some good reassuring scriptures on the stuff I'm getting at? It's hard to deal with sometimes so something a Bible can help you out with...

I don't know my scripture very well but whenever I'm faced with a situation like that this one always springs to mind.

God lets the sun shine and the rain fall on both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Ecclesiastes 3:16-17
[I] 16 Moreover I saw under the sun: In the place of judgment, Wickedness was there; And in the place of righteousness, Iniquity was there.
17 I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.â€

Good verses, Syreth.

Also look at Job. Although he was upright and righteous, bad things still happened to him. Sometimes It's not our place to ask God, "Why?" but more appropriate to ask God, "What do you want me to do?"

I will be praying for you, Tenshi no Ai, that God will give you understanding and comfort even in this hard situation.

Luke 6: 20-26 I think is a good reminder as well

20 And raising his eyes toward his disciples he said:
“Blessed are you who are poor,
for the kingdom of God is yours.
21 Blessed are you who are now hungry,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who are now weeping,
for you will laugh.
22 Blessed are you when people hate you,
and when they exclude and insult you,
and denounce your name as evil
on account of the Son of Man.
23 Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward
will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the
prophets
in the same way.
24 But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.
25 But woe to you who are filled now,
for you will be hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will grieve and weep.
26 Woe to you when all speak well of you,
for their ancestors treated the false
prophets in this way.

It's a reminder that while the bad seem to have everything going for them now, it will not always be that way.

Thanks for the replies^^. I think it was maybe Heretic's verses that I was thinking about before... couldn't really remember and thought it was in Proverbs or something^^
