Isn't it Strange?

Postby ChristianKitsune » Mon May 21, 2007 4:17 am

Got this in an Email.

IT IS STRANGE, ISN'T IT....

Isn't it strange how a dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church,
but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but...
you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but
how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but
they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda,
but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others;
but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but...
we question the words in the Bible?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven but...
they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but
when we are going to send messages about God,
we think about it twice before we share it with others?

I don't know about you...but this really made me think..^^;

IT IS STRANGE, ISN'T IT....

Isn't it strange how a dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Good point

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

No, not really. With a movie you are sucked into another world and it's more intense, complex or whatever.

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but...
you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Prayer doesn't come as naturally to all of us. It's a good point but also conversing with a visible friend is easier.

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

Yes and no. Many stories we've heard from the Bible countless times, while a good novel is fresh in our eyes (even if it does illustrate similar truths or whatever). Also the Bible is History and to many people that instantly means Boring.

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Not sure about this one. I don't go to concerts much, and I've never been to a game and I sit towards the very front at church.

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

I'm not a social butterfly as such so I don't experience this. But I imagine it's not good.

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others; but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

I don't find it difficult to discover and share about God and I don't really gossip (although I have several times and it's not good). Gossip is evil.

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but... we question the words in the Bible?

We believe everything? What the crap. I hardly believe anything I read in magazines and newspapers, but a healthy questioning of the Bible is important for growing in one's faith (not the authority or divinity of it but other things).

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven but... they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Yes, that's a good one.

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but when we are going to send messages about God,
we think about it twice before we share it with others?

I share everything as readily whether it be related to faith or not. I don't forward jokes.

Isn't it strange how a dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

I definitely agree with this.

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Sometimes, but not always.

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but...
you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

This is something I definitely struggle with every time I try to pray.

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

This doesn't fit me at all. I find both fascinating and very enjoyable.

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

I just prefer to be at both. Where I sit doesn't really matter.

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

I actually usually plan everything I do at the last minute. So this doesn't fit me very well. XD

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others; but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

I'm terrible at spreading gossip, being a victim of it. But spreading God's word takes almost no effort for me. I really enjoy talking to people about it.

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but... we question the words in the Bible?

I don't believe everything I read. And I will also agree with Warrior 4 Jesus that asking questions about the Bible is healthy to do.

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven but... they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

There were a few people I knew who were like that.

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but when we are going to send messages about God,
we think about it twice before we share it with others?

Not at all. I'm almost completely blind to humor and as I already said, I like to spread messages about God.

This sounds familiar...

Isn't it strange how a dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church,
but such a small amount when you go shopping?

True...

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Actually, I enjoy going to the Easter Vigil Mass; it's cool! Besides, watching a 2-hour movie for the first time actually seems really long to me.

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but...
you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

I talk to God like I would a friend; you can tell Him anything, whether it's about your boyfriend/girlfriend, the latest manga you're reading...He cares about every part of you, so why shouldn't He be interested in anything and everything you have to say?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but
how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

I don't know who Zane Grey is, and I don't usually read what's popular, so I can't really do much there. Besides, I find some of the stories and stuff in the Bible fascinating. The story of Daniel interceding on Suzanna's behalf is really good.

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but
they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

I tend to sit near the front with my family on Sundays at Mass. As for weekdays, I tend to sit off on the side near the middle. I've never attended a concert and I've only been to a few sporting events, and I was not sitting in the front row. (*Is expecting projectiles in the head from others who are shocked to know she is not a sports-fan*)

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda,
but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

Hmm...I can't really argue with this, but it's not like a lot of last minute stuff happens at my church...at least with me anyways.

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others;
but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

I just try to not talk badly about others. Now, talking to complete strangers altogether...that's something I may need work with.

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but...
we question the words in the Bible?

I only really question in terms of "what is this passage trying to say?" Besides, you can't trust all those magazines! (On the National Inquirer) "Hitler's head found buried in someone's backyard!" and "Fish: what they're REALLY thinking" (to which my dad said "Time to eat?" XD We have fish, and that's what they're like)

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven but...
they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

It's a sad thing that some people are like this...not sure if I know any, though.

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but
when we are going to send messages about God,
we think about it twice before we share it with others?

I guess it's because deep down, some people are afraid of getting yelled at by others who say, "Stop trying to push your religion on me!" or something. Now, that may not be the case, but sometimes I can't help thinking about who would like to hear a message and who would care less and just delete it. Maybe I should stop worrying.
