For Thy Glory

Postby Whitephoenix » Sun Nov 14, 2004 3:59 pm

After recapping the events in PotC, I felt inspired to write a poem. And well, here's the finished product. (Edited)

Taken from a father's arms
To walk among the enemy.
Scapegoat for a fallen world
Imbued with depravity.

Body painted with vivid wounds;
The unspeakable agony.
Adorned with the circlet of a condemned king;
Crowned by iniquity.

Mocked by multitudes demanding
The slaughter of innocence.
Cursed and beaten and pierced in shame
For the hope of deliverance.

Set to rest within a cavernous tomb,
For his own life he could not save.
From the shadows came the sinister chant:
"Who could overcome the grave?"

But 'lo, his triumph elucidated
By an empty vault of stone,
For the phoenix born of sacrificial flesh
Has ascended unto the throne.
