I haven't read all of it. My first exposure to Hellsing at all was some scanlations of some chaters in volume three (I think). I had no idea what was going on, but was completely taken away by it.

I just got the first volume last night, and will probably finish reading it later today. I personally love it. Integra is one of the coolest anime/manga characters ever.

I havn't completely read it, I just scanned through it at my local Barnes & Noble. It looks pretty sweet, I'm thinking of buying it pretty soon. Lots of violence and blood, that dosn't bother me much though. I don't know if there is any bad content besides that, can anyone tell me?

They put the F-word in a 13+ manga? Oh well, I'll still probably get it.

I have it and love it

As most of you know I'm not shy to the well not quite christian of media, and I have a personal intrest in vampires, like miyu and helsing, midnight detective, mosquition, and any others that I have forgotten to mention. This is by far the goriest so i do not recommend this to the weak of heart the manga is even worse. However the art is amazing and the stry is much better in the manga, I really enjoy it and the characters are captivating, I'm looking forward to Incogneto's battle with alucard and more battles with the priest. But i recommend if you're not weak in mind, body and spirit. Of course there are those that say you should not put such filth in your head, it will show on the outside sooner or later. They're probably right. So let the Lord convict me then and for now I'll enjoy the art, plot, and characters.

*Update* I read the first volume today after my last post. I realized that the scans I was originally talking about were from the first volume (the first Alucard/Anderson fight).

I absolutely loved it. While I'm still leaning towards the anime a bit more, a ton of things were explained in the manga. It is also going to take some time getting used to the manga style (even if it is really cool, it is so much different than the anime).

Again, I agree 100% with Chapel's warning about the series. Definitely not for the weak of heart.

I'd reply to that, but I learned the hard way that " If you keep your mouth shut, you will stay out of trouble." (Proverbs 21:23)

Rabid Duckie's convicions probably do not allow him to enjoy or support Hellsing, yet he doesn't want to cause any fights, so he's not saying anything.

(Just a guess... as per what I saw on the JtHM topic. Well, Hellsing's just about as bloody).

I have the first volume of the manga, and I personally enjoyed it. I really like Anderson. Heh. Such a fantatic... and swords! Though I've only actually read volume I, I like it better than the anime - (Because I've only seen the anime as a Hong Kong bootleg that a friend gave me as a gift and the word spellings and character names were messed up in the English subtitles, whereash, I bought official English-release manga, which doesn't have dodgy translations from Japanse to Chinese to English. Urk!!!!!! )

There are some things in Hellsing that rub me the wrong way, Chrisitan-wise, but overall, I like it. It's an interesting story and I like gore. I've read online about some things in future volumes of the manga that weren't in the anime... I can't wait for the English release to bring us the storylines about the Nazis and Millienuium (neo Nazi group in the manga).

Is it Christian?

Ok lets do a quick scan of most manga and anime, first off No, No, No, No, when it comes right down to it most manga nad anime we watch doesn't even have an underlining christian theme, however I supose we could read into every little thing people say in the manga and anime trying to derive som sort of spiritual relavance, to justify our enjoyment in the material. However, most of the time any christian theme founf is usually just in passing, I've said in other forums that Christians are portrayed in Anime as powerful beings. I think they veiw Christians as people with a divine power, as demonstrated in blade of the immortal, Kenshin,Which hunter Robin, Niga Resurection (which I hated) and Trigun. So it is to no surprise that we have the Protosents and the Catholics as the only groups with the power available to them to defeat the undead. So Is Hellsing Christian, nah. Does it have christian themes? More so than other manga, however there are alot of themes in this manga, from both spectrums, We'll just say Hellsing is unbiased in its portail of religious imagary. In the Christian worldview. Although if you read the manga you find that the Catholics go up and kill Muslim terrorist. So that brings a bit of Islam into the mix.

Nah, I'll just warn you to stay away from it, knowing you from previous posts. It's NOT something you'll want to read, Ruroken.

I've read the first manga, and like everybody said, indeed 'tis bloody and gory.
what I find cool besides the violence is that it's relentlessy realistic. when they portray each religion and denomination, they potray there true character (the fanatical catholic, fanatical moslem) and not some stereotypical nimrod.

my two cents, thank yu come agian!
