Has anyone ever read this title? It's a manga about a family dealing with the birth/raising of an autistic child. Honestly I've never seen anything like this before, and was deeply curious about it.

I'm pretty sure CAA has a fair number of autistic members, so I'd be especially interested in their opinions regarding it.

I might have to go up there and read that in the store today. (Can't really justify buying it right now >_>)

Went to an American comic convention-- you know, those conventions that AREN'T anime cons or Star Trek cons-- and bought volumes 1-3 for $1 each there shyeaah.

I uh haven't started on them though. I just felt like bragging. Those things are like giant coupon books.

I believe I saw this one I the bookstore. I didn't buy it because I feared it would be depressing. Hows the mood in it?

It's actually very optimistic. There are some sad parts, but the overall tone is a positive one.

I've been reading volume one... its really fantastic. Very deep and heartwarming, as well as heart wrenching! Sometimes I feel as its purpose is nothing more than a "Informational tract" but then I keep reading and that feeling goes away.

Its worht the 15 dollars.. I got mine for 10 percent off though because the spine is bubbled and damaged XD

I usually don't like to gravedig threads, but I don't think I should start a new one in this case either. Recently, I stumbled upon an article announcing that the mangaka, Tobe Keiko, died back in January. The manga was unfortunately left unfinished. :(

PS: If you want to check out this series, now is a good time because the first volume is available on Amazon for only a couple of bucks, brand new, not used.

That's terrible! I'm sorry the mangaka died- through this manga, they were able to provide so many with an idea of what autism is, and how it can be dealt with through love and patience, even though it could be hard. There should be more manga like it.

I clicked on 'New Posts' and couldn't believe my eyes! I LOVE this series, I've read the first 4 or 5 books [which is quite the undertaking, relative to most manga].

I'm not going to lie, the thing that drew me in was the fact that the autistic child's father is a glasses character who can be frequently found in a suit. xD Oh, fandom buttons. I just can't help myself when they're pressed.

However! I was very impressed to see the conflict resolution and the family lovingly hold together through thick and [VERY!] thin~ It's a bittersweet story, and I can say I've learned a lot thus far. I am privileged to have this title at my local library. I'd say request it if you don't have it at yours! It's a good, enriching read!
