MOF To Establish International Manga Award
Japan's Foreign Ministry will establish an international manga award to honor non -Japanese cartoonist overseas.
The ministry plans to set up a screening committee of cartoonists and others, to examine entries in late June.
Prizewinners will be invited to Japan in July for an award ceremony and to meet with Japanese cartoonist.
Foreign Minister Taro Aso, a manga fan, said he hopes to make the new award a Nobel Prize of manga.
This will be in a way for Japan's Pop Culture to communicate with the world.
