Good manga titles?

I'm looking for some new manga to get into, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
I cannot take: Nudity--Wolf's Rain's Harmona is about my limit on that; yaoi--I cannot accept that, no exceptions; and sexual content--I'm a little more relaxed here, but only a little! Absolutley nothing inappropriate!... And no strong language. (we have young ones in the house...) Mythical elements aren't so much a problem so long as their not too serious, and violence doesn't bother me so much, so long as it's not horribly graphic. Mild language is OK, as long as it's used infrequently.
Titles I like:
Pretear--love it, love it, love it!
Wolf's Rain--so cool! The art is *gorgrous* (swoons)
Shirahime-Syo, also known as Snow Goddess Tales--by Clamp. It's such a great book filled with ancient Japanese folk tales!
Kingdom Hearts--it's so cute! I love it!
Tsubasa--I haven't read all of them, but so far they're good. Edit: This one no longer is on my good list. I took it off.

I love action and drama, with good character development. Tragedy is very becoming to me sometimes. (Hey, I'm a Final Fantasy 7/Wolf's Rain freak... what else can I say?)
FullMetal Alchemist looks like a possibility, but I'm not quite sure... I like the storyline, but some of the religious content looks questionable...
Titles so far I cannot stand:
Naruto
Dragonball Z
Inuyasha
Bleach
Anyway, I'd appreciate comments!

it might be good to know why you can't stand some of the titles you mentioned. give us some reasons or something. anyways, i recommend
whistle - it's a good, clean, soccer manga. great character developement and a pretty interesting plot. well drawn characters with some intriguing pasts and intense soccer action.

Aria is squeaky as far as I know. It's a very cute manga about a gondola-rowing girl on mars. Sounds boring, but I like it.

Yotsubato is also squeaky. It's about the life of a green-haired 5 year old who is anything but ordinary. It's absolutely hilarious.

Thanks for the ideas! And as for the reasons I don't like some of the titles I mentioned earlier:
Naruto-- the artwork and stuff... looks too much like pokemon! Also I don't like some of the sexual content, with the perverts and stuff... kind of gross.
Inuyasha--the artwork bugs me, as well as some of the elements. Too many bath scenes and the like... and did I mention the art work bugs me?--Can't remember if there's any yaoi perverts... there are, like, so many mangas out there like that...
Bleach--Too much yaoi and disturbing spiritual content for me!
Dragonball Z--this one I haven't looked into all that much, but the artwork was enough to scare me away.

I know some of my reasons were petty, like about the artwork and stuff, but graphics are important to me!--Final Fantasy 7 game as an exception.

I'm currently reading Hikaru No Go, and it's very clean. No violence or swearing or anything like that. The only thing is that one of the main characters is a 1,000 year old spirit, but for me it's not that big of a deal. The artwork is quite nice, and it has a good plot.

Yaoi? What yaoi? There is no yaoi in Bleach.

And for the record, yaoi is basically homosexual porn... there is none of that in a Shonen Jump comic.

You should probably try some shoujo stuff, since you don't like shonen artwork.

Sorry--my bad. I was just talking about the lesbian/gay elements. (yuck...)
And thanks for the suggestion!

'Fraid I can't be of any help. The series I dabble in tend to contain a bit of something or everything you'd seem to order your drive-thru burgers without. And if you have young ones running up and down the stairs, I can understand not wanting to leave some of this lying around. But, I myself often ask how and why these elements are included or portrayed.

c'mon. that's like barely touched upon and it's only like in two volumes. after that, it basically dies down. i can't really see how this aspect should stop you from reading such a great manga.

I should warn you that in Tsubasa [#8 I believe] There is a gay relationship. Now, one of the characters is gender ambiguous but is also completely flat chested, Clamp has a history of these kinds of relationships popping up in their stories.

You could try +Anima, but I've only read the 1st volume of it so I can't say much about content.

The first volume of Immortal Rain had a bunch of swearing, and the second had a rather detailed nude pic. so I don't know how much it would apeal to you...

There is little to no gay/lesbian material in Tite Kubo's Bleach. There is one lesbian character (which would be so hard to locate in your average high school these days) and she has little to no role. Nothing happens with it.

I was just about to suggest this!!

I think the cleanest manga I can think of are +Anima, Aqua (is this the Aria mentioned earlier?), Daa! Daa! Daa!, and maybe Detective Conan. Of course, I haven't completed any of these, but as far as I remember they were pretty clean, especially +Anima and Aqua.

meheheh... if I see something bad nudity wise I take my shiney pilot pen and EDIIIT!! >3<

I usually let people borrow my mangas...and I don't want them to be a stumbling block...

clean mangas...well...lets see... An american "manga" called Sea Princess Azuri is very clean and heartwarming! XD The main characters are called Orcas, or Whale peopel (sorta like mermaids but less pretty, and yet still pretty XD) Theire clothes are their markings, and sometimes they wear jewelry and stuff...so.. I wouldn't consider it nudity...

its really cute though! and rated ALL

Thanks for the cautions, Mai. Yeah, I'll probably have to let that series go... Tsubasa, I mean...
As far as the others, I'll have to see. Immortal Rain has some nudity, eh? And swearing, too? Hmmm... Again, thanks for the cautions.
Oh, and about Bleach, it's not just the gay/lesbian elements that bug me, it's the religon, too. I don't like bad spiritual content, but in some cases I can excuse it, if it's not too serious.
But thanks again for the suggestions.

please keep in mind that Bleach is a work of fiction and fantasy and the spiritual content is NOT to be taken seriously. also, some of the mangas you mentioned in your list of favs also has spiritual content.

Gravitation- That is, the title is good, but the actual manga is filth.

Seriously though, Trigun and Trigun Maximum are great. D.N.Angel, Rurouni Kenshin and Saiyuki/Saiyuki Reload are pretty darn spiffy, too.

It's true, some of the titles I really enjoy do contain some baddies as far as spiritual content. However, in Shirahime-Syo I consider the tales like Greek myths. Hera, Zeus, Apollo... those don't really bother me. In fact, some Grecian legends can be quite interesting to read. Wolf's Rain can get pretty weird with the whole, "humans evolved from wolfs" mumbo-jumbo, but I forgive it because it's such a good story with some good morals about friendship and self-sacrifice. Plus, you gotta admit... for an anime, it's fairly clean...
Like I said, mythical elements don't really bug me so long as they're kept relatively mild. Gayness is something I simply can't get past...
Oh, but thanks for the new suggestions. I've been considering picking up Rurouni Kenshin, but there is the question of that gay dude... (blah)

Mega Man NT Warrior
Prince of Tennis
Hikaru no Go
Rurouni Kenshin (If you don't mind some blood)

You mean the cross-dresser from the Kyoto arc? It doesn't really go into much detail, and when we do find out that what we thought was a woman is actually a man, it just comes off as funny. If you let that one little thing put you off, you'd be walking away from a hecka great series.

bleach has a very good storyline and has excellent plot twists. there are also positive themes and morals that are stressed in this manga as well...

In most cases, that's how mangas go^^ Except, I HAVE found one that's the other way around: Sailor Moon (in many cases), surprisingly enough. But that's besides the point^^

The Kingdom Hearts manga really isn't that great..it's basically the same story with more gags, drawn in a style that makes the Disney characters look good and the KH/FF characters look kinda...too...cartoony. ^^; I mean, if you're a die-hard fan it's nice to have, but I wouldn't buy it if you haven't played the game.

Yeah, it's true that they do leave some things out in the manga, but it's still really good. I love it! It's soooo cute and super clean--which is getting harder and harder to find these days... And I actually happen to like the art--maybe not my favorite style but it's definently sweet.
And one thing about Rurouni Kension--isn't it true that the gay dude flashes someone, and not only that but he also has a "thing" for his boss? Hmmm...
And jon_jinn, I understand that you like Bleach and that's fine. I just don't think it's for me, that's all. Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll have to pass.

That is true. However, the "flashing" scene is censored out with a blurred spot (kind of like something you'd see on someone's face in one of those cop shows). The worst thing is probably the "victim's" descprition, which is nothing a sharpie or some white-out can't edit. XD Also, the thing about the "thing" for the boss never comes to any fruition what-so-ever. It's quite one-sided, and the character is actually looked down upon. He actually has quite a small part in regards to the entire 28-volume series (like, he shows up in a few chapters between about 6 volumes, and doesn't even show up in every one of those), but if that's still enough to turn you away, I understand. XD Even then, though, Kenshin's quite graphic, violence-wise. Lots of decapitation and blood and dismemberment...probably not a good one to have laying around the house right now. XD Later, though, I'd definitely recommend it. :D

While I'm here, I might as well recommend Magic Knight Rayearth I. It's a very good (very short--3 volumes) series, and it's quite clean. There are some magical elements (it's a magical girl series), but nothing worse than what you'd find in Pretear. There is a second part to the series (Magic Knight Rayearth II), and it's just as clean, but it's not as good as the first one (in my opinion, haha), and some yaoi fangirls will tell you that two characters are gay, even though they're really just good comrades.

Also, I'll go ahead and recommend the cleanest series I've ever seen: Yotsuba&!. It's about an adorable 5 year old and her adventures in a new neighborhood. VERY cute, VERY funny, and VERY clean. :D

Hope that helps!
