To commerate my just having obtained Vol. 26 of Rurouni Kenshin, I've decided to open a grand thread for discussion of this and the subsequent 2 volumes to come in the series.

For my browsing, 26 looks like it'll be a great tale. I'll post my thoughts in a day or so after I finish reading it.

Yeah, it'll be like saying goodbye to an old friend. Of course, we also have the Kenshin Kaden and Yahiko's Sakabato to look forward to.

Kenshin Kaden.....? I have heard of Yahiko's Sakabato though.

Kenshin Kaden is basically a fanbook that was published after the end of the manga that includes artwork, interviews and a short manga telling what happened to all of the main characters as of Meiji 15.

One thing I found interesting in my research was that in the interview with Watsuki something about an unpublished 'Hokkaido arc' was mentioned. Hopefully the Kaden will be one of the things we'll get when things are wrapped up.

(I still can't believe I haven't finished volume ten yet... dumb interlibrary loan/infrequent visits to the bookstore.)

(Needless to say, once I get caught up, I'll be ready twenty-six. :eyeroll: )

I just got and finished Vol. 27 tonight.

My initial impressions...
Overall, I wasn't entirely impressed with Vol. 27. The battles with the Su Shin were rather dull and Woo went down like the worm he is. These five characters just felt flat to me. Yahiko's fight was probably the best out of this group...but maybe that's just because I enjoy seeing Yahiko test him mettle.

Also, I thought the battle between Kenshin and Enishi was interesting and all, but it was hard to follow everything that was going on, movement wise.
And, is it just me or does the translation seem somewhat...'awkward'... at times?

I just bought and read vol. 26 yesterday (oooh, I'm so behind! T_T), and LOVED it!
I love how Tomoe ended up being the one to tell Kenshin about Kaoru, through a dream. Also, I wish we could see more of Sano's family. XD They're all so great! I love his little sister, she cracked me up!

I also love how Hiruma Gohei and his brother showed up again, along with "Pork Bun" from the Kurogasa incident! XD I was rolling with laughter when Sano took out the Hiruma brothers...twice!
Now, if I can only get my hands on 27 and 28...I'm almost there! :D

Hahaha, that's funny! I remember volume 7 being...
the first volume where I was really on the edge of my seat, as to whether Kenshin would turn back into Battousai or not. Such a great volume! And the ending still gives me a lump in my throat! Fantastic!
Anyways, I read volume 27 yesterday!! KYA!
Asdf!! Ryumeisen!! I NEED to see this!! I seriously can't wait for volume 28 to come out! I have a friend who is borrowing this series from me, and she just got to the part where Tomoe is killed...I can't WAIT till she reads the rest of it! XD Anyways, all the battles in 27 were SO cool!! Aoshi's in particular...He's just so awesome! I loved every page! :D
:thumb: I need to read 28! SOON! o_o

Ryumeisen...
Is definately not something I was expecting, but it's a logical and actually quite a brilliant move that would generally be relatively weak against an opponent except in this case.
