I don't have a lot of manga and haven't read much...

But I have read some of Love Hina, Kodocha, Marmalade Boy, And I tried reading Great Teacher Onizuka but I couldn't get very far in it...

Oh, and I think I read some of Mars too...

Before that, I bought Evengelion (3 issues, not the TPB) and Nadesico and Pokemon, oh and i bought a few issues of Sailormoon and go a Sailromoon SuperS TPB. I threw all of them away, but I really shouldn't have...

In any case, I only own 1 manga now, it's Kodocha TPB 1. kodocha is a great series, and it can get extremely silly, but it's also very emotional. It's one of the best anime I'd ever seen (even though the anime was much crazier than the Manga) and I loved the Manga. I want to start getting more copies.

Another Manga I started to get into was Marmalade Boy. I really got into it, and I was upset when I had to stop reading it when I came home. That is a great story.

Well, in any case if you have read either of these manga, we can talk about them...

Yes, I read kodocha. I really liked it. It was the only series I've read and I felt absolutely addicted to it. I've read #1 through #6. (There may be more available now.) Yes, parts were silly, even improbable -- but I really enjoyed this series. I liked the authors side bars -- they added greatly to my interest. The characters are vivid and each in their own way memorable and appealing.

Anime hasn't hit the libraries here. I wish manga was available to borrow. But I guess that day is coming.

A few manga titles have hit libraries where I live, but most of them aren't complete.

Hmm... I think the world would be just fine if every piece of DBZ media and merchandise disappeared right now, though some hardcore fans may be holding up heavy things with their tapes... And some may have built their houses out of the books and tapes (and DVDs when that came around) so maybe not...

Anyhow, despite Tokyopop's less than perfect history (Initial D and Chobits), they were very accurate on what I read in Kodocha. It was a very good job, and I love the story, but i only wish they'd explain some of the cultural issues (oyakodon baka for instance)

Hmm...the library...that's a great idea! With my access to every library in Colorado, (Cool college library networking system) I just might be able to find some manga to read. Thanks, Gypsy. ;)

At my library, there is a wall that is nothing but pink. The pink comes from all the paperback romance novels on it. What was strange was that while I was passing it, I spied manga on it once. I guess being in that location they were Shoujo, but I stopped looking for them when some women started to look at me weirdly. I guess I can't blame them, a shaggy six foot guy crouching down to look at romance novels... that would creep anyone out.

The only thing anime related I found besides those was the Robotech anime written in book form. No artwork except for the covers, and that definitely makes the experience different. I would have prefered the anime or at least the manga.

the local library near my place has started shelving the AKIRA series, which I tried to read but gave up on because of my short attention span. ^^;

Aside from that, the only other anime related things in libraries around here are Spirited Away and Mononoke Hime artbooks. ^^;
