235 is out early! It looks like a good, optimistic chapter...
Shikmaru and Kiba are back, and.... Neji's alive!!! Chouji's probably still alive too! ^__^
Read it!

Ooh yeah, that made me happy. I sure appreciated some real hopefulness after what's been going on recently.

This really irks me. Not being able to read what is being said, that is. There is obviously some fairly important things being said between Temari, Shikamaru and Shikamaru's dad.

...

Irksome.

They stated a waiting period of "a few days" which is wonderfully specific. I'll probably just bide my time for the moment. Alternately, if it happens soon, I'll just edit this post with my thoughts.

At any rate, we now know that Chouji and Neji did in fact survive.

The translation should be out either tomorrow or Saturday. That's when it usually comes out from what I've observed.

Did it show Chouji in this chapter? I mean, there's Shikamaru's ambiguous crying, but... I couldn't tell if Chouji was alive or not.

Just some useless ramblings, I'm very happy to hear the optimistic stuff. *Hooray!!* It's nice to have this arc end finally. Sasuke's back into my good books with his "I will not be your puppet" declaration.

.....Temari, Shikamaru and Shikamaru's dad? aww man, now I can't wait to know what's going on!

It showed him briefly on one page.
Considering he appeared to be hooked up to some medical thing with a doctor monitoring him, I'd imagine he's still alive.

Plus, from what I've gathered browsing around some Naruto forums. Someone at the end of the chapter said that the mission was a failure but everyone did survive. Tsunade, I think, cured Chouji somehow.

By the way...something else I found...unless I'm mistaken...next chapter involves Sakura.

I actually liked Sasuke for an instant when he said that he wasn't Itachi's puppet.

Or... I didn't hate him for a second.

Has anyone seen the very latest Naruto anime opening?

It starts up the arc that the manga just finished and has a nice usege of symbolism regarding Sasuke's descent into darkness.

I haven't seen it yet because I haven't been downloading the filler episodes.

How are they, by the way?

I am almost amazed we can speak at such length about something that none of us can actually read.

To attempt to make this post worth something, I will try to edit it later, presuming that a translation is not too long in coming out.

I know, I know, this doesn’t really have much to do with the recent Naruto Chapters, but I thought this would be the best place for people who could appreciate a nice piece of Naruto Fan art I found. (Sorry if this would have been better posted somewhere else…)

But I hope you enjoy. ;)

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

That is a very good picture, really. I like it.

Meanwhile, a translation is out, if you are willing to transfer between two windows while reading. To be honest with everyone, I am dissapointed with this chapter. It isn't that it wasn't good, but it wasn't as good as what I had expected from my impressions of the dialogue up to that point. However, it does make it completely clear that all our primary characters are alive, albeit in critical condition. I seriously doubt that this manga-ka would ever allow someone to die due to surgical complications...

One thing that I do like, however: Shikamaru actually acts like a 12/13 year old kid. Kids shouldn't be able to handle the deadening of the senses required to kill like a shinobi does, and it just makes sense that people would break eventually. This chapter, while not the best, is very welcome in that it is primarily text and development.

I thought that the chapter was decent, but I also hoped for some more worthwhile dialogue.

Shikamaru was quite realistic, as you've stated... I liked seeing that side of him.

Yeah, it's a great chapter for showing other characters than Sasuke and Naruto alone. ^^ Can't wait for the next chapter, since it's going to showcase those that are most going to be affected by Sasuke's decision.

Yes! I can't wait. Finally, a break from all those pseudo-yaoi chapters....

I mean, interesting as they were, you know that Kishimoto put in a few of those comments and physical closeness (shudder) to titillate shonen-ai fans.

I'm eagerly awaiting the return of Sakura and the others.... There could be an emotional gem of a chapter in store for us. :thumb:

Oh, yeah. Sakura. ....

I want to see how Naruto will react and if it will be very different from Shikamaru. After all, Naruto promised with the "nice guy pose" that he'd bring Sasuke back and, though that's not a Hokage-assigned mission, it seems pretty serious, especially since he didn't manage to pull it off.

I am wishing beyond hope that this would be a hurdle for Sakura to change for the best. With Sasuke gone, would she train harder? Some kind of new revelation that she would become a better ninja and help in getting Sasuke back/defending the village? I *so* wish that Kishimoto won't neglect the female characters any longer--with the boys out of commission I would like to see how it effects the girls. I mean, you got a Hyuuga with Hinata! And Ino's special ability along with Ten-Ten's weaponry expertise! All the girls seem to be doing is worrying about the guys :\

And even with Tsunade as the Hokage and Temari's ease of defeating the sound-nin (who's female. I don't recall any girl actually defeating a guy in the series... even in the Chuunin exams... hmmmmm.... *suspicious look*) it still seems the female counterparts shadow behind the males.

And yes, all those ambiguous close-ness just makes you suspicious of Kishimoto's intentions... *rips hair out remembering the Sasuke-eyeing-unconscious-Naruto scene*

We could do with some development of the female characters, yes.

To be retentive... Tsunade does defeat Naruto (twice) and arguably beats Kabuto (though Naruto dealt the final blow), as well as sort of beating Jaiyra. Also, the female Sound-nin did have a role in beating both male Leaf Jounin (though with the other three).

That is wierd, though]And yes, all those ambiguous close-ness just makes you suspicious of Kishimoto's intentions... *rips hair out remembering the Sasuke-eyeing-unconscious-Naruto scene*
He already did the kissing thing within the first volume... in an interview he commented that he did it "so all you people won't have to imagine it with your sick little minds." (paraphrased) I have to wonder as well...

I know it's a shonen-oriented manga, but, like all of you have said, we need to see the female genins apart from the male genins. Whether they're training, in school, or simply hanging out, we really need to see their place in Konoha (and the manga overall). I mean, we've had Tsunade, Tayuya, and Temari, but I want to see how the "normal" genin girls act... The ones that aren't known for just being Hokage or on Orochimaru's team or Gaara's sister.

In short, I just want some personality for TenTen, Sakura, and Ino! Hinata was there for a while, but after the Chuunin Exams, she kind of faded out.

Enough about that... We'll have chapter 236 to deal soon enough =).

Oh, and I always thought that the kiss thing was for shock value....

I guess he did it because he knows that some of his fans like yaoi. Weird.

I thought I had read in an interview that he had done the kiss thing because it really whacked out the team dynamic. I hadn't heard the yaoi thing before... It's kind of disappointing.

EDIT: I believe the interview was in the American Shonen Jump Vol. 1 June issue, but I can't find a copy of it. If anyone has it, or can give me a link or something, I'd appreciate it.

I believe there's a 'character interview' by Kishimoto part as well (read it at Toriyama World) about Sasuke being asked about how it was like to kiss Naruto. He answered something akin to, "Tasted like miso... ah--I mean I don't remember!"

>_____<;;;;

I just personally find it highly, HIGHLY, unlikely to see two main characters of the same gender kiss in a shonen manga generally geared towards the younger teens. Whatever, I think we're too deep to worry about that.

I'm now kinda worried that things might actually end up NaruSaku... <--- die hard SasuSaku.
