Rave Master

(I don't think we've done this one before...LOL)

I was browsing around Tokyopop's site and ran across this manga. I see in other threads that people seem to think pretty highly of it. I'm thinking of buying it as a Christmas present for someone (actually I have several titles I'm thinking of...O.o...but for some reason this one really got my attention. Can anyone give me a rundown of what the content is like and if they think it's worth buying? (Tokyopop rates it Teen, but...you know how the rating system can be...:eyebrow: )

LOL, I wish we had that good a bookstore in this town (read: icky wide spot in the road)

I "read" (in other words, I looked at the way too small pics, LOL) they had on Tokyopop's site, but of course 8 pages of manga doesn't get you very far...*sigh*

I LOVE Rave Master. I've read up to the most recent copy. It's the one manga I have to buy when each new issue comes out. Waldenbooks card - 10% off, yeah! :jump:
It's very clean. The rating is for the violence of the fight scenes, which are actually pretty mild. Both my kids read it also and they're 11 and 13. You can't go wrong with Rave, Ink. It's very good with really great characters. My friend is loaning me the copy of the anime series next time she's over because we all like Rave so much. Plue is so cute! :)

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I have the first one. It's good. It's pretty clean too. In terms of violence, there is some blood. At least in the one I have, they seemed to go out of their way to avoid profanity. Don't know about later volumes...
An odd thing about mine is, on the back of the one I have it's rated "Y:7 and up" and yet officially on the website it's rated "T:13 and up". Probably a typo or something on my book...
I plan to get the later volumes sometime.

haha, well if you like collecting, then why trade?? (but really i am a little too much into collecting as well...) i was just thinking of the manga shops they have in Japan. i wish we had one anywhere near where i live.

And after you said that MasterDias i recalled that my copy has the 7 and up rating as well. Strange that the site would rate it teen.... looks like i have a lawsuit on my hands.  (i am totally kidding).

It was probably a typo or maybe they changed the rating after the first volume had come out..

Rave Master slips less from the fun-loving carefree mode into more serious issues around book five (with the entrance of my favorite bishonen of all time, Sieghart). I've seen all of the anime, and am now reading the manga.

It is a good series, with a feel al it's own. If you are looking for a good read, I highly suggest it.

Unfortunatly, it is going to take forever to Tokyopop to release it. There is currently over 20 volumes in Japan, and it is still going (I believe).
