I find that ending most humorous. I can see how you would be disappointed, but I find it ironic (and I like irony).

Daiko-chan wrote:Okay then, I guess out of all the people who have posted in this thread so far, I would be pretty qualified.

Let's see...I've read about the entire series (yes, I have read the last volume) though I may have missed the second to last tankubon.

Just to let everyone know, this post gets really spoiler-ish.
Well, there is the whole event that occurs when Chii tries to get a job for the first time...she inadvertently ends up working in a peep show for her first job- and weird stuff happens. Of course, this being a series directed towards older males in Japan, there are tons of sexual references: overt, and implied.

At the end of the series, Hideki becomes Chii's "platonic" male friend/father figure/teacher -he does love her, but he cannot unite with her as he could with another human being (if he was married). Chii is truly a Chobit, but the legend about the Chobits proves to be false: they cannot act outside of their programing.

That disappointed me to no end. Chii is still just a machine after all.

Still, things get...um..."pseudo-Biblical" since some of the characters start saying things about the persocoms "being made in man's image" and "it's a sin to love something that only appears human" -even though that is what this series seems to be promoting!
and about being human [in other ways] when they technically aren't. It's disconcerting to say the least.

Also, another odd thing in this series is:
Chii needed to find love lest she wreak havoc on the entire world by disabling all other persocoms o.0]

and s'about it for now.

youve read the entire seires? er when? how could you npot have felt convicted (going on the asuption that you werent a christian yet)

I'll interject here...not everyone has the same sensitivity levels. What may be acceptable to you is considered not good for someone else...it's all between you and the Holy Spirit/God.

I know this may have been changed, but I read it with the selective suspension of disbelief and a critical mind. PCs that can walk around and communicate? Okay, I can accept that. The main characters wanting a computer mainly to download porn? Very bad. Stuff like that is the reason that I never bought it. My mother would flip if I brought something like that home, where I'm lax about storing my manga and my younger brother could find it.

However, the rot is not integral to the story. You can easily skip it, which would make this a rather well told love story.

Good call on the interjection, Ashley.

I wouldn't say having a character that wants a computer solely for the purpose of downloading porn is that bad. People in real life do that. It's just being realistic. Of course... if it shows some of said porn, that's being borderline again (and with the Chobits manga, there's porn already built in).

indeed that was a good call ash,,, but personally, my mom would have coniptions *lol* what icarus said... a well told love story" for me just to bad it has the adult (I almost wanna say perverted *not being sarcastic*) content in it... like i kow porn exists , unfortunatly, but i dont that they actually show any on the comp screens and such.

This is a somewhat foolish question, but at least it's on topic. Where do Chobits have computer screens? Or do they connect to an exterior screen?

True. Still, I just find it distasteful.

Try to see if it is at your local library. If it's not there ask it to be sent from a diffrent library.

Ch, they probably haven't even heard of manga at the libraries in my small country town... heck, they didn't even have The Silmarillion when I went looking for it, and I thought all Tolkien works were classics! So no, if I want to read manga, I have to buy it. And despite my original attraction to Chobits because of its beautiful artwork, I think I'll abstain from it after reading ya'lls posts.

I think they connected Chi to a TV or a monitor or something. ^^; Like hooking up a Playstation, I guess.

Let us not allow this to become nothing but that debate again. Allow me to speak my piece, however.

The detail of nudity does matter, in that nudity is not inherently evil. It's presence is not automatically bad, and, indeed, has its place in some parts of life (marriage, Garden of Eden, for example). Where the problem lies is that nudity isn't exactly helpful in the issue of lust. Less detail, however (for some individuals...) cuts down on this problem somewhat. And a few other things. But let me say that the issue should not be spoken of any further, unless via pms.

"persocoms" connect to a tv screen in order for you to surf sites, by using cables from their metallic ears (ears being the only thing that helps REAL humans detect persocoms from them).

i bought the first volume of chobits because i saw some art on the internet, read a bit about the story and decided it was no badder than love hina or video girl. that is until i read it!! the nudity doesn't bug me until about the 1343546th time Chii imitates a porn video, or her dress flies up, or her shirt is too big... it would help if there was some other type of humour besides the sensual stuff but there is not really. (well, sometimes it tries, but it fails to be truly funny) also, the comic story moves very slowly. halfway done the book, i put it down and went to read another comic. ^-^;; you don't find out much, and when you do, it quickly gets proven wrong... but back on subject!! this focuses mainly on sensual jokes, i think... the drawings are nice but the material goes too far. (1. i was a bit disgusted by the way Hideki had to "turn on" Chii at the beginning. 2. there is this girl, i think she's called Yumi-chan, i think she's my age or a bit older and she has an e-size brassiere. o__O that's just simply too much~) well, that is my opionion. i love chobits it's really cool and funny, i've only read the first book and i saw the third one at Barnes and Noble but i'm having a hard time getting the second one. anyway i don't feel there is anything offensive about it, it's really good and it's just a nice manga to read.
