OCRemix, for those of you who don't know, is a website that host music projects of video game fans. The projects are remixes of various game tunes though generally with a very creative touch to them.

You can find it here:
http://ocremix.org/

Once you browse the list of awesome sauce, tell us your favorite remix here, or just talk about the music.

If you're a fan of OCRemix, be sure to check out the OCR Radio stream at Rainwave, where you can get constant semi-random OCRemixes playing to your computer 24/7.

Warning: A couple OC Remixes contain foul language. At the main site you can avoid those songs but on rainwave you only have partial control over what you listen to, so if that bothers you be careful.

I just heard about them through a Metroid remix somebody did. (I think I need to step away from the Metroid music for a while but...but it's just good, okay?)

I like me some OC Remixes. Star Salzman is a really good remixer. I like just about everything he's done.

So far, one of my favorites is analoq

He's got nice grooves going - good background music. The songs don't go anywhere; they're typically mellow.

(lol, incidentally, I found the old thread, started by you, Shiroi:

I'm not going to post in it, though. It does have lists of remixes people downloaded, so it's good to have a look at.)

I love too many OC Remixes to name them all ^_^ I generally like the ones that are from games I'm very familiar with, of course, so I especially like the Final Fantasy, Zelda, Mario, SotC, and ICO ones. Of those, I generally like the ones that stay pretty close to the tune of the game music, but do something really different. Probably my top three would be:

Zelda: OoT - Falling Back (Gerudo Valley with lyrics)

FFVII - Adrenalyne Kyck (which has a quote from Yoshinori Kitase stuck in the middle)

ICO - Icon (which has lines and sounds the characters make, mixed in with the "Castle in the Mist" song)

I'm subscribed to their youtube channel... never checked the site out to be honest though.

Anyway, my favorites are:
Frog's Theme - Chrono Trigger
Wild Arms theme
Ballad of the Windfish - Zelda
Wind Waker - Ancient hero

Can't say I've listened to a lot but yeah...

It's been a while since I've heard the newer remixes coming out, but I've always been impressed by their album projects, especially their Chrono Trigger, Radical Dreamers, and Final Fantasy VII albums.

My current fav artist on OC: Analoq. He's got good grooves in all his songs.

I enjoy the remixers who do more acoustic/instrumental stuff in general or aren't too heavy on the UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ stuff.

So you don't like techno.

By acoustic, do you mean as with ascoustic guitars or any non-digitized instrument in general?

I like real instruments. But I never said that I don't like techno; I used to listen to a lot of it. But nowadays, it's not really my favourite. Obviously, it depends too.

Like, I remember liking zircon's and bLiNd's stuff a lot. But it's stuff like Reuben Kee's piano arrangements or Jeremy Robson's orchestral arrangements that are really impressive to me. Or Sixto Sound's electric guitar stuff. I also tend to like vocals for some reason, so pixietricks' mixes are pretty nice too.

I'm sure I've left off a ton of remixers I liked but haven't listened to in a while. And I'm sure there have been some impressive newcomers in the two years that I stopped following OCR happenings as closely.

Hm..
Good orchestral pieces on OCR can be hard to find.
As for zircon, I have a remix (I think by him) called "Daft Drafts", which has lyrics. It's smooth music, but synth.

I looked up Reuben Kee and it doesn't look like he's made anything for six years, so you're not missing anything there.

Sixto has one song that has a tremendous opening (I don't care for the dark sound to the rest of the song):

but you've probably heard that one already.

That's because he passed away near the end of 2007 in a boating accident.

He remains my absolute favourite remixer and every single one of his remixes is top tier stuff.
