Mosh Pits?

How many of you have been in a mosh pit before? I was in one at Pillar, Relient K, and Skillet, although they weren't the whole sucker-punching affairs most mainstream bands have...

I've been in a couple. There was one at a Pillar concert that I recall to be a bit over-the-top. I was on the outside but my friend was on the inside he came out to where I was and was like, "I hurt all over." Gotta be careful sometimes. Other than that, they're pretty fun.

oh mosh, I love mosh pits
I've been in the following mosh pits: East West, TFK, Relient K, 38th Parallel, Supertones, Benjamin Gate, Skillet, Fire Iron Frenzy, and Pillar. I would love to be in a Demon Hunter and Blindiside mosh pit. I also hacky-sacked with bout 12 people during a Toby Mac concert
In the Supertones most pit, I almost got killed. Cause thier were (pardon my russian) idiots who don't know how to mosh and we had like 500 people in it all pushed together so it was like a wave. So I didn't mosh, instead me and a big (as in girth) tried to prevent people from killing eachother. I quit almost getting killed myself and left the concert to go take a shower (this was at a christian music festival)
One of the most dumbest things I've ever seen was a kid crowd-surfing during a Micheal W. Smith Concert
I like mosh pitting but I also kinda find it mean to the music artists. They are putting every effort into playing the music and what we do is ignore the music kinda and mosh to it instead of listening or enjoying it. So I tend to mosh at tiems or not mash, or take breaks

First off i need to let you know that I weigh about 120 lbs.and im 5' 8" so yeah, I'm a scarwny dude. I was at a ska concert and i just figured that there would only be other skinny nerds like me there. Oh i was wrong. There were ska-hgeads of all sizes there... and they liked to mosh. Ska moshing is a little different from your standard moshing. There are a lot more kicking and high knees. So i li8terally got my butt kicked. and i was just caught in these like an undertoe in the ocean. there were times where i didnt even touch the ground for 30 seconds. it was one of the scariest moments of my life, but all in all it was a lot of fun.
-Daniel
PS the bands were Voo Doo Glow Skulls, Catch 22, Pietasters, and Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Mosh-mosh-mosh

Wow, has it been awhile since i was last in one! Personally, i like them. I always seem to get pushed into the big fat slimy guys though, so i tend to stay on the outside of the pit, it's mostly just jumping around then and not so much pushing. I agree though, that sometimes you need to pay attention to the band insted of moshin. But i hate going to concerts and just standing there!! It really bugs me, so i always jump around anyways...i have a few friends who arent use to this....so i just jump around even more and eventually they start to bounce.
The thing i dont like though, is people who get "hurt" and complain
all night about it and get mad at people. You should go into a pit knowing all the dangers you may happen upon. No life guard on duty in a mosh pit, please know that goin in.
Yes, i mosh.

I love it when people keep crowd surfing even though the lead singer himself asks them repeatedly to stop it. >_<
I don't mosh, but at ska concerts I've been known to "skank", which is kinda like dancing. Although everybody seems to have forgotten what it is after only about 3 or 4 years o_O

I've heard skanking is the full-blown moshing with fists and feet and any other part of the body you could cause damage with.

I was in a mosh pit at a Creed/Our Lady Peace concert, but that was only because it opened up right where I was standing, and I was directly in the middle of everything. It was really low key - Just puching and jumping into other people, but some guys started beating each other into pulps, so I gracefully bowed out. I'm not real big on fighting fighting for no reason. Only for necessity.

when i go to a concert the last thing i want to do is get beaten up by people i dont even know. i really hate it when the pit move s around and gets people who dont want to be in it involved. this is why i seldom go to the standing area.

The thing is, there's always one big fat sweaty dude that you always run into, and he knocks you over and falls on you with the grace of a 747 doing ballet.

....man it's been years. My musical focus switched from pop-punk and ska to indie rock music and old-school punk. You don't really mosh to indie music and um the Clash aren't playing gigs anymore.
Just for reference the last shows I went to were, David Gray and David Bowie.

I am going to the Meteora WorldTour 2004 in about two weeks, I am not going to mosh! Because not only Linkin Park will be there, but POD, Hoobastank, and Story of the Year. Yeah, they may be Alternative Rock and not as crazy as Demon Hunter, but still.. lol.

I was in a ska mosh pit about a two months ago... it was crazy. The trick is to avoid getting to the edge of the mosh pit, because that's when you fall over.

At all the ska concerts I've been to, you don't have to be in the mosh pit to skank. It was always more like...you kick your legs and kinda dance. It's hard to explain....maybe watching a Supertones live concert video or something might help ^_^;
Other than that, the reason I don't go to many secular concerts is because I'm afraid I'll get killed o_O I don't like actual moshing. If other people want to, fine, but I'm not gonna.

My dream is to get in a mosh pit at an Ozzfest concert. I will not stop until that dream comes true! *stands high and mighty on a huge mountain top with a sword raised above my head*
