August Burns Red's new album is due in a month and they uploaded a brand new song today.
I'll give my opinion when someone else has stated their opinion.

Here's my opinion: This isn't music. This is loud noise.

What was even the point of that? You don't listen to hardcore so you're barely qualified to comment. Take your fail out of this thread.
As for an opinion of August Burns Red's new stuff by someone who actually listens to hardcore, I like it SO FAR. I want to hear more of it before I can really say if I like their new stuff as a whole, but it seems a little bit closer to
Thrill Seeker than
Messengers. It has some of the heaviness of Thrill Seeker, but with some of the sweet guitar work of Messengers. I'm gonna definitely pick it up. I want to see them play live again, too.

It involves far more talent than Trance.
Anyways, while I can say August Burns Red could be considered quite generic, they definitely rise above most of the Metalcore bands around today.
This new song is great, but it sounds like you could stick it as track 8 off "Messengers" and you wouldn't notice a difference.
Plus, there's like five breakdowns. XD
I don't know, man.
I'll have to wait til the album comes out.

The point was that I just wanted Tom to spill out his opinion. XD He said he'd state his opinion after someone else did, so I stated mine!

Ryan, I think we all know what you said was both unkind and unnecessary. Now, let's drop this before it goes any further, please.

It's all good.
It was fair game.
He had a point.
But anyways, from hearing this, I am interested to see what the rest of the album sounds like.

I liked the album for a little while, but I found myself moving away from this genre of music soon after I got the album (Not because of the album though). I've become more drawn to the deathcore and post hardcore sound. Stuff like The Fall of Troy, We Came as Romans, With Blood Comes Cleansing, and Blessed By a Broken Heart.

Blessed By A Broken Heart isn't post hardcore or deathcore.

You are correct sir, but I was too lazy to sift through the various genres that have been plastered over every single band.

Just sayin'.
Fall of Troy is good by the way.
I'm not digging that new song with Rody Walker though.

They haven't released Dirty Pillow Talk yet, though Panic Attack! has Ryan Donnely from the Schoolyard Heroes.

I have yet to hear this album. I really enjoyed their messenger album. It wasn't as generic as a lot of the Christian metalcore bands out there.

This is one that is definitely on my list to get...I enjoyed both "Thrill Seeker" and "Messengers" immensely.

This destroys both of them.

Not to say I don't enjoy them.
I love both albums.
Constellations is a new level for them.

What makes you say that?

Because it isn't just a 40 minute headbanging session.
ABR had a weird habit of only making the last track of each album have good structure.
"Zoar" on their self-titled EP, "Accidental Shot Heard Around the World" on Looks Fragile After All, "The Seventh Trumpet" on Thrill Seeker, and "Redemption" on Messengers.
The last track always has the most epic feel in each ABR album, but in this one, every track is epic and the songs actually have variety, which is a brand new concept for this band.
JB has become a much better song writer.
The drumwork is far more intense. Faster, more skilled.
The breakdowns are more uniquely written and intense and the vocals have far more range. Granted, the bass player does the highs for the most part.
Overall, Constellations is a more solid, impressive, and good sounding album than any of August Burns Red's past efforts.
I give it a 4 out of 5.

Constellations is by far the strongest ABR album yet. Subtle touches make this album shine. Whether it be the brief guitar fills or the melodicness of Indonisia with the lead singer of Between the Buried and Me. If you don't have this album go buy it now

Oceans of Apathy, while their most enjoyable song, is the most amazingly written. If that makes sense.
The jazzy breakdown owns.
They really are trying to be Alaska era BtBAM though.

And this is a problem? lol

Absolutely not.
BtBAM is my favorite band.
I'd rather them be the "core version" of BtBAM than be the way they were before.
