Anyone familiar with or like these bands?

Their music is I guess it would be alternative rock ^_^""" I dunno how to put music into genres but they are both rock. Blue october has alot of violin which is cool. Both have unusual but awesome (in my opinion) voices.

there both secular and both have a few profanities in a couple of songs but recently I have fallen in love with their music. But be warned if you decide to search out more of their music they each have a couple songs that use the "f" word :(

if you want to hear what they have to offer here are a couple youtube links without any objectable content-

Blue october- Calling you

http://youtube.com/watch?v=OsvoTkx1mQY

Blue october featuring imogen heap- Congratulations-

http://youtube.com/watch?v=rJgXPfBCm_8

Blue October- into the ocean

http://youtube.com/watch?v=L7Fl2yWalH4

wee and placebo-

Song to say goodbye-

http://youtube.com/watch?v=uGQfpLoI5FQ

Running up that hill (kate bush cover)-

http://youtube.com/watch?v=9X3jLVCotw8

anyone else glad that we live in an age where we can download our favourites from itunes while skipping over songs with objectionable content?

Yeah, I've heard of Blue October--like me, they are Houston natives. ^^ They're good for my every-once-in-a-while, something-hard-and-heavy musical urges, but I don't listen to them regularly.

You're too young for Placebo, youngin'. They have WAY more objectionable content than just a couple of F-bombs. Get back to yer Relient K and Family Force 5.

being a month away from 18 I don't think I'm to young for placebo. Really their songs don't mention anything you won't see or hear in high school.

and despite a few drug references I forgot about the only really objectionable content I can think of is the line in post blue (the one with the "f" word) so Yeah I guess I don't really know what your talking about.

and while relient k and ff5 are bands I would rather see in concert just because of their energy placebo and blue october are more the type of music I listen to on a day to day basis.

But Like I said thats why I love downloading single mp3's. You can stay away from songs with objectionable content.

You didn't say whether you like placebo though?

I'm sorry, but after my esteemed former co-worker decided to play "Calling You" at work repeatedly, back-to-back, over and over and over again, I am absolutely certain that I will never in my life EVER like Blue October for as long as I live.

...and if that's a crying shame, then "it sucks to be me".

Lol. You know, you're right. o.o I just started reading lyrics and I think I misinterpreted them or got them confused with someone else. My bad, though it was probably the album art for Once More with Feeling that got me thinking that way. Heh heh. It's been a while since I've listened to them. They're not bad, not my favorite, but not bad.

Yeah a couple of their albums have... WEIRD album art. Seeing the album art for MEDS almost made me pass them by but I am glad I did not.

I think the lead singers voice turns alot of people away. Its almost an acquired taste.
