As far as I'm concerned, Evanescence is done

They haven't broken up, but Amy Lee personally fired John Lecompt, and Rocky Gray quit in protest.

Geez. I haven't heard those guys in a while...shame to see em' go though.

My favourite band went through something simmilar a few years back. One of the crew members got fired, and others left slowly ><.

While this has no impact on my opinion of their music (which I still find good), it does have a very profound impact on my opinion of Amy Lee.

I don't think I'll be buying any more of their albums, to say the least.

would that be Nightwish you are talking about? I know their lead singer, and, in my opinion, the heart of the band was fired...^^;

can't say I am surprised about Evanescene though.

Rocky Gray left?
Good.

He was formally in a far superior band.

Either way, I suppose this may be harsh on Evanescence fans.

Which one?

Living Sacrifice, or Soul Embraced?

Regardless, he and Lecompt are in a new band together called Machina. I'm looking forward to their album.

Never heard them.
I'll go look them up.

That is really sad...I really loved there stuff and I must say that their style really inspired me as a musician....

I'm curious, is Amy Lee a Christian or does she just claim to be a Christian (or was she never a Christian)?

Cuase if anything, God's giving her a big wake up call....

Don't.

Soul Embraced is terrible.

Can't argue with the wakeup call bit there.

That wasn't a necessary thing to say, beau. It's not cool to go around doing that.

Why?
Because he likes Fall Out Boy?
I'm over that.

He now is just 99% cool instead of 100.

Ouch. Harsh. Whilst I'm a big Living Sacrifice and Soul Embraced fan, this was one of Rocky's bigger projects and it's pretty sad to see him leave over something this heated.

Hmm. This is rather depressing. While I was not a huge fan of Rockys stuff before Ev, I liked him being in the band. It's hard to say what really went down though...we are only hearing a slight tidbit of one side. Things like this happen in bands, and its always better to know all sides of somthing before casting judgement. Hopefully, Evanescence can replace the lost members and continue on. I rather liked the new album The Open Door, so I would hate to see the band implode now. But time will tell. Sad news indeed.

I seriously disliked the Open Door, and I wouldn't be sorry if Evanescence disbanded.

However, I wouldn't be too hasty in judging Amy Lee.

I'm sure there is more to this situation than meets the eye, there always is.

Wow. I just read Amy's little press release on one of the Ev forums. Claiming the 2 members had "parted ways"

I shut up, when Amy Lee drug Scooter Wards personal demons with alcohol into the spotlight and acted like a child throwing a fit when Scooter was hurt by this. I shut up, when Amy made a single for her new album doing the same to the lead singer of Seether. I can't just sit and shut up over this. I will never in any form support Evanescence again. I really am quite shocked now that I have read the comments from the band and Amy Lee herself. It really should be called the Amy Lee band.

Btw. This was her statement as taken from Ev Threads.

Amy Lee wrote:"Evanescence is alive and well. John and Rocky were in Evanescence for four years and we shared some great times together playing live, but they were ready to move on and so we have parted ways. Evanescence is something I have loved and nurtured since I was fourteen, and I will continue to protect and fight for it as I always have. Terry, Tim and I are very excited to play live with some amazing new musicians and we will rock harder than ever. Stay tuned for more news on that front. And don't worry about the tour, guys. Nothing will be cancelled and we will see you soon!"

I will never forget the first time I heard Bring Me To Life. I told everyone I know how amazing this band was. As time went on, many fans stoped caring because of the fanbase the band had. Mostly 12 year old girls and hottopic kiddos. I don't know how many times Jamie and I bickered over Evanescence. *shrug* It has taken a long time for me to see Amy Lee for what she really is I guess. I hope she enjoys the solo act. Maybe her and Gwen Steffani can do a project together.

To those that still love Amy Lee and her music, that is great. I hope you enjoy it. I don't look down on anyone that will still be a fan of hers after this point. We all will make our own decisons. I figured I would post this, since anyone that even remotely knows me...knows I have been an Ev fan for ages. Ah well.

Woah. I definatly didn't like the new album, which I never bought but only bummed off of my sister for a listen, as much as Fallen. Didn't even hold a candle to it, to me.

Just read the schtuff on the offical forums. Think I read like 3-5 articles stating the exact same thing. :p

Ah well. Even if the band fizzles, I'll still just keep Fallen spinning in the player. Record was still good, regardless.

^ Yeah. I'll still play stuff from Fallen, as well as the demos and unreleased songs. I like it too much.

You did actually read what was being said here right? Evanescence is still playing...they just lost more of the original members. And as far as Lacuna Coil goes, till they get rid of the guy...they will always suck. The guy sings about as good as I can juggle chainsaws. I bought the album with Heavens a Lie on it. And I cannot enjoy listening to the howling that guy calls singing.

I find "Lies" to be Evanescence's best song, BTW.

"Lies" is a good song. I also enjoy "Away From Me". Find that guy who did background vocals and bring him in again!!

David Hodges (the guy who did most of the background vox in their earlier songs, including "Away From Me") was fired by Amy Lee back in 2004 because he wanted the band to go towards a Christian direction.

He's now the lead vocalist for a band called Trading Yesterday. They're pretty good.
