ok, I'm sick of people putting Amy Lee down cuz they think she's goth! SHE'S NOT FLIPPIN GOTH! omg.... she's just a little dark and is mad at God, which makes people hate her even more by calling her anti Christ or anti Christian. She has been raped(wow i said the R word on a christian website...) and abused many times and she is mad at God for not saving her from it. SO SHUT UP!
for me she is my personal idol becuase she is beautiful, writes music and poems from her heart, and she has the most amazing voice on the planet!
What gets me really mad is when people hate the band because they think the music is dark and scary. the only thing that makes it dark and scary is the music in the background, but if you read the lyrics they have things that we can all relate to. a lot of people think if the music is HAPPY then it's really unchristian. NEWSFLASH! Flyleaf is a christain band but they don't sing christian or look christian.

I have some problems with that statement as well. God isn't out there to stop evil from happening. He's there to give people the realization that we can overcome evil with His light.

That seems pretty gothic to me. (Or atleast physically on an image level) Nothing wrong with being really gothic though. I know Ikimasu is a goth.

1. I agree with MSP and Kae... God isn't out here to make our lives hard... in fact it's because God is with us, that our lives will be at least a little easier to stand..we have him to fall back on..

2. I don't like Amy Lee because my pastor's son had a friend that was in Evanescence and he wanted to write Christian music and they kicked him out...

3. I am not a huge fan of her voice

Well some news for you. Not everybody likes the same things you do. My good CAA friend Radical Dreamer doesn't like trance, techno, IDM, or House; however I do. Oh well, big whup. I'm not going to think she's wrong for disliking it. She simply does not like it.

While it's good to correct people's misunderstandings about certain things, it's not a good idea to do it in an all capital and angry manner. You lose credibility when doing so.

And let me just say I don't like Evanescence either. I just don't enjoy that type of music. I also don't like her voice. I don't find her very talented.

Amy Lee, and Evanescence are goths. I could care less if they admit it or not. It is like the example Nate gave. If you are percieved by enough people as somthing, chances are there is a reason. If it quacks like a duck, smells like a duck, and walks like a duck...chances are its not a chicken. However. I love Amy Lees vocals, I like her lyrics, and I enjoy the bands sound quite a bit. But too each there own. Some people that have posted on this thread that like music...that to be honest, I would rather slam my head in my truck door then be subjected to. But hey, thats why there are so many bands out there. Everyone can find somthing they enjoy. Now, as far as Amy being mad at God. If thats true, she needs to shut up and grow up. Everyone has crap happen in life. Sitting back and blaming God is like blaming the DMV when you drive your car off a bridge.

I pretty much agree with you there, but in all the interview with her I have read or listened to, never once has she said anything that makes it seem like she's mad at God.

But they aren't a Christian band in the first place. That's like working at a grocery store and trying to convince management to turn it into a church just because it's what you'd rather do.

If he wants to play Christian music, he can join a Christian band.

....actually, i've been to one of their shows, and yeah, they do sing christian, and talk about their faith on stage, even in a secular venue (the show i went to was in a bar)

Evanescence may not be a Christian band, but they do/did have several Christians in the band. And I enjoy their music a lot (second favourite to P.O.D).
Zelda, I think you need to calm down. Otherwise you're going to be percieved as a troll or just an angry teen.

But viewing Amy Lee as your idol is not healthy. I hope you mean you just admire her. She doesn't like 'clingy' fans, they scare her. It says it all in her song, Snow White Queen. Also where did you get the idea that she was raped and mad at God? Sure she's got her issues (we all do) but I think that if she isn't a Christian, she certainly struggling in that direction. Listen to the lyrics - full of darkness but also faith, hope and love. Evocative lyrics.

May I point you to christiangoth.com? I found some interesting information in there, one bit of it being that not all goths dress the way Amy Lee does.

My point is, most people would think she looks gothic. She knows that. I am not saying that lables, and things like that are right. But if I walked around wearing a football jersey, should I be mad if people assume I like football? If you hate a lable, don't dress similar to what is socialy thought to be that lable. (wonders if he is making any sence or if he should give up)

Your pastor's son is a liar then.

David Hodges left on his own behalf. He wasn't forced out. He also didn't push Christian music on them.

Interestingly, Amy wrote a song based off of how freaked out she gets when people idolize her, particularly on the internet (Snow White Queen)
