Christmas Music!

Well, t'is the season and all. ;)

I found a nice little site with some easy-to-moderate legally free sheet music for anyone looking for the sheet music for some Christmas carol-playing. There's a few other classic non-Christmas pieces there, too. Just for paino, but I'm sure you can easily find guitar and other music out there with a quick google search. ^_^

Any musicians here planning to do anything musical for this Christmas?

I'm singing in the choir at church a couple of times this month, but if I can find the time I may start arranging another Christmas medley and put it on my site. Maybe. ;)

Each year our church does a Christmas production (drama/musical thing) (and also Easter), and this year I'm in the band.

Sounds cool, Melmak. ^^ I've got good memories of choir. ^^ And a Christmas medley sounds great too, if you get the time.

Congrats, W4J! I hope the production's fun. ^_^ Our church only did one, but it was fun to participate in. ^_^ Though I wasn't in the band... I was one of the random elf-like people in the back.
And yes, it was a Christian-themed production despite the fact it had elves. ;)

I was put in charge of our church's Christmas concert. Had to administrate, write, sing, play, direct, the whole works. It was killer, but fun in the end.

Woah! That's a huge job. Glad it turned out well! Is that this year, or was that another year?

It was this year - last weekend, actually. I mean, it helped that there was a lot of talent in the church already, so I mainly ended up piecing it together, getting people music and such and so forth. But the church really enjoyed it - so much that they want to do it again. And that time around, I hope that I can pass off the admin. badge as well. ;)

That's cool. And it's great that it turned out so well that your church wants to do it next year. Hope that you won't get stuck with so much work next time, though. ^_^"

Not particularly, unless I get persuaded to participate in Christmas caroling (a fairly likely possibility). I actually originally interpreted this thread as being about Christmas music played aroudn the home. In that case, I won't personally but I know that when I visit my family they'll have music playing except when everyone is asleep.

I tend to dislike Christmas Music.

I honestly don't know why.

Oh. My. Word. I just realized that I don't have to do piano or violin recitals this Christmas!!! YES! *boogies*

I don't think I've actually done any recitals since prior to college, but it's funny how these things suddenly just snap to your attention. I do miss playing concerts with my two orchestras though, that was always tons of fun even if I couldn't always hit all the notes or even figure out where we were in the music. Violin parts are stinkin' FAST O_O

I'll probably still dig out my old music and play the piano a bit though. I have a tricky version of Silent Night that I've been trying to figure out for three years now..*plots*

Yup; guess the title's slightly unspecific.

One of the things I like about no longer being in high schools is that I'm not manhandled into standing between row upon row of people wearing the same bland-coloured uniform and trying to survive the Southern Hemisphere summer heat while half-heartedly belting out Christmas tunes amid the collective bodyheat of thousands of individuals. >_<
...I'm free! :jump:

Sweet; another piano player. ^_^ Most of the Christmas carols I come across are relatively easy; it's good to have a challenging one now and then. ^_^ Although if you have an easier one then you don't have to practice as much before you plan (if you do plan, that is) to play it before your audience (for me: family).
Although I have the feeling that my Dad will suddenly call out in the middle of this year's Christmas get together: "Hey, Sophie! Why don't you get up and play something? You know... that nice one from The Snowman. What's it called again? ...The snowman?"
Actually, the one he means is 'Walking on the Air'. I love the song, but when you're coerced into playing something you haven't practiced in front of a gathering, it's not so enjoyable. Besides, I tend to get nervous no matter who I play in front of.
And I've tried saying 'no' to him in front of a crowd before. He just keeps asking, and it's easier to give in than to make a scene.
Ah well; it's not too bad. At least it means he likes my playing. ^_^

I've already had to sing for the Christmas play at my school (I sang a medley of O Come O Come Emmanuel, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and Here I am to Worship), and I have a Christmas recital for my voice lessons coming up on Tuesday (I'll be singing Winter Carol). XD I don't play any instruments though; I just sing. XD

It wouldn't be too hard to transpose this music and arrange it for other instruments probably.

(Wishes he had a few other players to work with)

I don't have to be goaded into playing Christmas music, actually.
