I need help finding some hard rock/ heavy metal bands that are appropriate, with no cussing, and no messages about drugs and demons and crap. Maybe even some bands with positive messages and christian messages. The bands I like, but am not allowed to listen to are:

Disturbed
Metallica
Drowning Pool
Nickelback
Godsmack
Three Days Grace
AC/DC
Seether

The bands I like that I AM allowed to listen to (but I DO wish they were heavier) are:

Led Zeppelin
Foo Fighters
Hoobastank

Thanks, guys. :thumb:

Umm lets see.

All that remains (they use D**n a few times in one song no worse than Foo fighters halo) The are very intense and very heavy also very positive for a Hardcore metal band.
Thrice's Vheissu is brillant but not certain if thats what your looking for.
UnEarth's new album is clean and so is oncoming storm.
Breaking Benjamin's very first album (not we are not alone though) is clean.
and Disciple is excellent and christian too.

Def Leppard. Pretty clean, and they rock pretty hard too. Take it from someone who's been a fan ever since Pyromania was released. Ugh, there I go showing my age again.

Oh, this is hard.

You mean you can't listen to AC/DC or Seether?

Sure, AC/DC has glorification of sex and stuff, but Seether? They're totally clean (at least on Karma and Effect).

You might consider artists who do primarily instrumentals:

Joe Satriani
Liquid Tension Experiment
Steve Vai
Ron Jarzombek
Steve Morse
etc.

Yea but stay clear on Steve Vai's singing stuff. Sure he is an amazing guitarist but he has some songs on one of his singing albums that is really nasty.

I love Joe Satriani and Hendrix.

If you're interested in Christian groups, try some of these:

Extol
Tourniquet
Stavesacre
Kutless

Lifehouse is also clean as far as I know, though I'm not sure whether they consider themselves a Christian band.

Also, this thread might be helpful to you:

Wow.

That elimates 100 percent of any band I'd suggest then. I'd go crazy if I had to listen to positive stuff all the time, to be honest.

I'll try to get my dad to read Seether's lyrics again. I'll tell him that Foo Fighters aren't positive either, yet he lets me listen to them.

Also beau, what are the bands you'd suggest anyway?

Actually, it's better that I don't name my suggestion.

They're totally not clean at all (then again, they're Japanese, so it's not like you can understand them anyway).

Eternal Decision plays (or played) classic Bay Area thrash like old school Metallica. I haven't looked them up for a while, so I'm not sure if they are still active. Sound's like dad's kind of hit and miss on his choices. I do it too, so I can say that.
Godcore.com is another site to check for reviews, overviews and some legal MP3s of Christian metal bands.
That's all I'm coming up with right now, but I'm not at home on my comp to check my playlists either.

I am not sure if these have been listed, as I have just a few minutes to be online, but here are my suggestions. Also, all of these bands are gonna be Christian.

Heavy Metal (By that I mean they scream for most of all the songs)

Becoming the Archetype (my personal favorite)
Extol
The Showdown (some awsome solo's with 80's style guitar licks)
Alove for Enemies
As I Lay Dying (awsome, check out some of their stuff on youtube)
August Burns Red
Norma Jean
War of Ages
Mortal Treason (they are kinda Death Metal now, but still good)
Slechtvalk (an absolutely incredible Death Metal band)

Power Metal (nuff said)

Dragonforce
Sonata Arctica

Also, dude, dont worry much about it. I am not allowed to listen to ANYTHING that is not in the Christian store, and I am 17! XD Even though I play the guitar, and most of the stuff I play sounds like AC-DC and even Pantera >.>

I found out Foofighters is actually slang for UFO's.

I second Stavesacre.
Anyway here be a few more. And they are all going to be christian.

Grammatrain (r.i.p)
Emery
Beloved
Blindside
Project 86
Terminal
Number One Gun
Falling Up
Lucerin Blue
Kevin Max
Brave Saint Saturn
Subseven
Kids In The Way
Skillet
Further Seems Forever
Flyleaf
Embodyment
MeWithoutYou

I stayed away from more of the hardcore stuff with the exception of Beloved. From what I've seen though I think that you would enjoy Stavesacre, Grammatrain, Blindside, newer Embodyment, and Lucerin Blue the most.

I really enjoy Demon Hunter they are pretty good.

Aother band that is cool but not christian is Apocalyptica. They are mainly instrumental and they use clasical stringed instrument but still keep a their heavy edge I find cool.

Since we are naming power metal bands one band i enjoy thuroughly is Twilightning. Their lyrics arent bad at least their lyrics in Delirium Veil isn't bad. I cant say anything about other albums they have.
